DESCRIPTIVE TITLE : Accounting Information Systems

SEMESTER/ACADEMIC YEAR : 2ndSemester, SY 2017-2018
CURRICULAR YEAR : 3rdYear
DEGREE : BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

PROGRAM EDUCATION OUTCOMES (Business Administration Program):

The graduates of the BS Business Administration must have the ability to:

a. Analyze the business environment for strategic direction


b. Prepare operational plans
c. Innovate business ideas based on emerging industry
d. Manage a strategic business unit for economic sustainability
e. Conduct business research

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The course mainly teaches accounting students how to use computers in dealing with accounting methods and principles that focuses on business processes and
data modeling. It also emphasizes transaction processing and accounting as a communication system with the technical aspects of how underlying accounting data are
processed or stored. This will give students a thorough understanding about the pervasiveness of technology that is common to organization and the impact technology
has on the accounting profession.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Pre-mid
 Submit a comparison report of the responsibilities different IT professionals.
Midterm
 Submit completed outputs of transactions of their own company made from SAP Business One hands-on activities.
Pre-final
 Submit completed outputs of transactions of their own company made from SAP Business One hands-on activities.
Final
 Submit completed outputs of transactions of their own company made from SAP Business One hands-on activities.

 Grading Criteria:

Pre-mid to Pre-final Final

COURSE OUTCOMES:

At the end of the semester, the students will be able to:

a. demonstrate one’s computer skills and factual knowledge on computerized accounting;


b. analyze, interpret and assess/solve accounting data& problems electronically;
c. exhibit entrepreneurial competencies through handling voluminous transactions using SAP One;
d. combine technical computer skills to accounting skills;
e. use the functions in SAP Business One application in accounting information systems;
f. apply accounting standards and concepts using the SAP Business One application; and
g. Create their own company and maintain its health with the aid of SAP Business One application.

COURSE POLICY:
 Students are subject to be dropped if he/she will exceed with the maximum of ten (10) absences before the mid-term without proper notice or reasonable
excuse letter from the parents with the Dean’s approval.
 Students are expected to arrive promptly at the beginning of class. Three accumulated late will be considered as an absence; arrival or attending the class
for more than 15 minutes late will be considered as an absence. In cases that the teacher is not yet around and no prior instructions were given, students
must wait up to twenty (20) minutes inside the classroom and may leave beyond the specified waiting time.
 Students are responsible from any lessons missed due to tardiness or absences (excused or not).
 Exercises, assignments, and project requirements are expected at the beginning of the class on their due date. Late submissions of projects requirements
will be given lower points/deductions but only until a day from the due date.
 Absences may be excused for medical (with physician’s note) or either emergency (post-letter of explanation from parents) reasons.
 Special quizzes will only be given for those students who were officially or medically excused but they will be responsible in coping up for any lessons
missed.
 Special examinations will ONLY be given to students who:
 have secured the permit before the examination date but medically excused (with physician’s note)
 have secured the permit ONLY one (1) week after examination date due to financial reasons.
 Quizzes will be announced and unannounced, but, the last meeting/session in a week will be, usually, the Quiz day.
 When assignments are given, only those students, who were present that day, are allowed to submit.
 No individual calculator (only on specified topics), no complete uniform, no ID card, no proper haircut (including brightly dyed hair), no entry.
