STEP Read the question to understand the TOPIC(S) of the summary and to know exactly

STEP Read the 10 INTRODUCTORY words given. The Topic(s) Will Tell You

STEP MARK OUT the specified portion of the text required for the summary.

STEP Read and pick out a minimum of 10 – 12 POINTS in the passage.

STEP Edit your draft and write in one paragraph in the space given.
5 (You may use the GRID Technique)

STEP Write out the final version of your summary in ONE paragraph.
6 (Begin the summary with the 10 INTRODUCTORY WORDS given.)

STEP Write the number of words you have used including the 10 introductory words.
7 (Adhere to the 130 word limit.)

 POINTS must be written in sequence. [Narrative Texts]


 The meaning of the sentences MUST MAKE SENSE in order to be
awarded 1 Mark.
 Do not start writing until you have located a MINIMUM of 10 POINTS
