Questions You Could Be Asked In an Interview

Preparing for your interview can make your interview more successful. Before your interview take the time to review questions that
you could be asked. It is not necessary to have prepared answers memorized, but to be prepared to talk about yourself, your skills, and
your experiences. The following questions can serve as a guide to prepare you for an interview.

Personal
1. Tell me a little about yourself. (Keep your answer career oriented.)
2. What are your strengths?
3. What causes you stress and how do you handle it?
4. Give me three adjectives that describe you.
5. What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
6. Who is your role model and why?
7. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Career Goals
8. Where do you see yourself in five years?
9. How do you define success?
10. What type of supervision do you prefer?
11. What is your personal style of supervision?
12. What are the most important features you are looking for in a job/supervisor?
13. What type of steps do you take to stay informed of new developments within your career field?
14. How do you feel about working nights and weekends for special events and activities?

Employer Information
15. What do you know about our company/organization?
16. What do you know about this position?

Education
17. How did you decide on your career/field/major.
18. What classes have you enjoyed the most/least during college and why?
19. How have the activities that you have been involved with during college influenced you?
20. Do you have future plans of furthering your education?
21. What electives did you enjoy the most? Why?
22. What campus activities were you involved with?

Experience
23. How would your co-workers/supervisors describe you?
24. Tell me about a time when you had to influence someone to accept your idea.
25. Give me an example of a time when you had to make an important decision and how you came to that decision.
26. Tell me about a time when you had to work with a difficult person and how you handled it.
27. Tell me about your position with___________ and the valuable skills you learned?
28. Please give me an example where you have demonstrated the ability to be an effective member of a team.
29. Give me 3 reasons why I should hire you?
30. Is there anything you would like to add?
31. Please give me an example where you demonstrated the ability to be an effective member of a team.
32. What did you like the most and the least about your last place of employment?

The following questions are most commonly asked and are also questions students make many
mistakes in answering. Be sure to make your answers to these questions career related.
