Winsome Witnesses

No sooner does one come to Christ than there is born in his heart a desire to make known to others what a precious friend he has found in Jesus; the saving and sanctifying truth cannot be shut up in his heart

Winsome Witnesses

Memory Text: “ ‘For we cannot but speak the

things which we have seen and heard’ ”
(Acts 4:20, NKJV)
 Winsome, something that is attractive, charming, pleasant, winning
and sweet
 Witness, one who bears true facts about something,

Because from the fall of man God’s character has

been tainted by sin power, God desires our
pleasant witness to the world, and because there is
an attractiveness to what God has done in our
lives,
Important to note:

Before people are able to know about what

we believe in, they should be able see the
changing power of God working in our lives
from the time we meet with this pleasant
truth of our redeemer
It is difficult to argue against personal experience. People
may debate your theology or your interpretation of a text or
even scoff at religion in general. But when an individual can
say, “I once was hopeless but now have hope; I was filled
with guilt but now have peace; I was purposeless but now
have purpose,” even skeptics are impacted by the power
of the gospel
 It is one thing to share what Jesus has done for someone else. It is quite
another to share what He has done for us personally.
“As witnesses for Christ, we are to tell what we know, what we
ourselves have seen and heard and felt. If we have been
following Jesus step by step, we shall have something right to
the point to tell concerning the way in which He has led us. We
can tell how we have tested His promise, and found the
promise true. We can bear witness to what we have known of
the grace of Christ. This is the witness for which our Lord calls,
and for want of which the world is perishing.”—The Desire of
Ages, p. 340.
The heartfelt peace, hope, love, and purpose that is
added to our life should be reminders of our time with
Jesus.

Being able to share these blessings is the

hope of every true follower of Christ.
Mark 5:16-20
 Mar 5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was
possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
 Mar 5:17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
 Mar 5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been
possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
 Mar 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to
thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee,
and hath had compassion on thee.
 Mar 5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how
great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
Verse 15

sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: The essence of the
gospel is to restore people broken by sin to the wholeness for
which Christ has created them. What better person to reach
these ten cities of Decapolis than a transformed demoniac
who could share his testimony with the entire region?
Verse 16

 The transformed demoniac was seen by all as healed physically,

mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The change could not have been
more obvious. And although this converted man begged to join Jesus
and His traveling companions, Jesus knew where he was needed
most.

Who knows that you have been placed in a place where u are for
missionary work
Good news is for sharing, Mark 16:1-10

Once again, unlikely candidates for being witnesses for

Christ were the women who visited the tomb on the morning
of His resurrection. Just like the demoniac, these women,
including Mary Magdalene, experienced a radical change
of heart when they discovered the empty tomb.
Notice this;

when the angel directed them to go and tell the

disciples the good news of His resurrection.

After we, too, meet the resurrected Christ along the highway
of life, we, too, must run to tell the story, for good news is for
sharing.
As we remember the story, we mustn’t forget that even the
disciples were skeptical about the witness from these
women. We, too, must not expect everyone to believe our
testimony, no matter how eloquent it is given.

It is up to the Holy Spirit to change hearts and minds. We are

only His instruments and must rely on His power to bring
about any spiritual transformation that might result from our
witness.
Hard times in sharing
 Acts 4 tells how Peter and John were arrested and brought before the
high priest’s council for questioning. Their firm, assertive witness was
enhanced by the Holy Spirit’s power that had come upon them at
Pentecost.

 When told to stop preaching in the name of Jesus, they were not
hesitant to declare that they must speak the things which they had
seen and heard (Acts 4:20).
Steps to Christ p78

“No sooner does one come to Christ than there is born in his
heart a desire to make known to others what a precious
friend he has found in Jesus; the saving and sanctifying truth
cannot be shut up in his heart.”—Page 78.
Appeal

Witnessing is never about us. It is always about Him.

He is the God who forgives our iniquities, heals our
diseases, crowns us with loving kindness, and
satisfies us with good things (Ps. 103:3–5). Witnessing
is simply sharing our story of His amazing grace. It is
a testimony of our personal encounter with this God
of amazing grace.
Although it is important at the appropriate time to
share the truths of God’s Word, our personal testimony
has much more to do with the freedom from guilt, the
peace, the mercy, the forgiveness, and the strength,
hope, and joy we have found in the gift of eternal life
Jesus so freely offers. And this cant stop with us only
but be shared with all in Jesus’s Amen.
