II. Course Description : The development of communication skills in English for academic and professional purposes.

III. Content Standard : The goal of this subject is to measurably build on students’ academic english language skills by engaging them


in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar learning activities that are relevant to real‐world encounters.
IV. Performance Standard : The learner produces a well-balanced concept paper in a specific discipline

VI. General Objectives : By successfully completing this subject, students will be able to:

A. Cognitive Domain
a) Develop awareness of the structure of the English language through contrastive analysis.
b) Categorize journals according to genre (popular, professional, or academic)

B. Affective Domain
a) Read, comprehend, and appreciate contemporary professional texts, a variety of styles and forms relevant to their professional needs.

C. Psychomotor Domain
a) Acquires knowledge of appropriate reading strategies for a better understanding of academic texts
b) Develop awareness of the grammatical structure of English.
c) Understands the principles and uses of a reaction paper/ review/ critique
