much to be imagined. The rate at which this problem is increasing is really alarming. It has created difficulties in
every sphere of life. As (subject) is a social problem, we have to solve it for the sake of our existence. Most of the

well as to achieve our goals of a Digital Bangladesh. It is a matter of great satisfaction that our government has taken
some positive steps in this regard.

Population Problem
Headline-
Added lines-Bangladesh is a small country but its population is increasing day by day. The main reasons behind the
excessive increase in the population are illiteracy, tropical climate, early marriage, polygamy and want of recreational
facilities. Overpopulation has a negative impact on the development and economy of the country. It causes a food
shortage, a communication problem, health problem, shelter problem, medical problem, unemployment and poverty. It
not only affects humans but also our environment and wildlife. We have seen that many species of birds and animals
have been extinct because of various factors and population problem is one of them. As more population requires
more resources, deforestation is happening at a faster rate which takes away the homes of these animals. Similarly,
their habitat is being destroyed owing to human activities.

Added lines-Children employed to earn money are deprived of proper education. They grow up to be illiterate and
ignorant. They also do not have a proper growth of mind and body. They are also deprived of living a normal life in a
loving environment. Children are employed as domestic servants, as farm workers, as mechanics, etc. Some of the
works are sometimes risky for a child. Though they have to work a lot, most of the time they are ill paid. They are
deprived of proper care, food and medical treatment. Industrialists and businessmen generally choose child labour
because of the efficient work in minimum time at low cost. And, children generally get involved in child labour
because of their poverty and lack of education.

Traffic jam
Headline-Traffic jam refers to a serious road block when there is a long line of vehicles plying on the road.
Added lines- It is a common affair in the big cities of our country. There are many causes of traffic jam. Rapid growth
of population and the increasing number of vehicles are the main causes of it. Violation of traffic rules is also
responsible for it. The drivers do not follow traffic rules. Traffic jam causes untold sufferings to people. It causes loss
of our valuable time.

Load-shedding
Headline-Load-shedding means the discontinuation of the supply of electricity.
Added lines-Load shedding occurs when the supply of electricity is less than the demand. Unplanned distribution of
electricity is also another cause. Moreover, illegal connections and artificial shortage of production are also
responsible for load shedding. Misuse of electricity is another cause. Due to load shedding, the entire life-style both
domestic and industrial comes to a standstill. On the other hand, the government is not sincere to produce electricity in
proportion to our demand.

Dowry
Headline-The money or property that a bride brings to her husband as a condition of marriage is called dowry.
Added lines-It is an unexpected custom in our society. Like other social evils, it is a curse. At present, it is practiced
in both educated and uneducated families. Greed for money and wealth is the main cause of dowry. The poor and the
illiterate girls mainly are the victims of dowry. If the guardians fail to fulfill the demand of their bridegroom, they
abuse their wives and sometimes torture them mentally and sometimes physically. As a result, many of them get
divorced or commit suicide or are killed by their husbands. This system has affected our whole society.

Illiteracy
Headline-Illiteracy is the state of being unable to read and write which stands on the way of differentiating between
right and wrong.

country. It is a major cause of the prevailing poverty and ignorance among a large section of our community. It is
compared to darkness. It is an obstacle to personal and national development and a social curse. Poverty is the root
cause of illiteracy. Majority of our people live below the poverty line. They do not manage two square meals a day. As
a result, they cannot send their children to schools. Lack of social awareness is another cause of illiteracy.

Price-hike
Headline-When the prices of daily necessaries rise and go beyond the purchasing capacity of common people, it is
called price hike.
Added lines-Price hike is caused by short supply of commodities and inflation. Market syndicate is mostly
responsible for this price-hike in Bangladesh. Besides, some dishonest people store essential commodities with a view

to making huge profit and thus contribute to increase prices. Other factors which causes price-hike are less agricultural
production due to natural disaster, lack of raw-materials, want of speedy communication, political instabilities, etc.
Price hike leads to the wide spread corruption and moral degradation.

Eve-teasing
Headline-Eve-teasing is a kind of sexual harassment.
Added lines-The young girls and women are usually victimized by teenage boys, rickshaw pullers, bus drivers, street
vendors, etc. Making vulgar comments, whistling, throwing flying kisses and sending SMS or nude picture through
mobile phone, e-mail, internet etc. are the easiest means that teasers use to harass their opposite sexes. Narrowness,
men's evil nature, cruelty, lack of morality, unemployment, frustration, failure in love, lack of religious spirit, lack of
public awareness, parents' indifference, etc. are greatly responsible for eve-teasing. Eve-teasing leaves deep
psychological effects on the victims. Eve-teasing increases girls' dropout rate from schools and colleges. Teased girls
are married off before they gain mental and physical maturity. Establishing human rights, empowering rural
governance and removing gender disparity could be the effective tools for curbing this social curse.
Food Adulteration
Headline-A substance added to a food-item to reduce its quality in order to increase its quantity is called as an
adulterant. This act of addition of the adulterant in food-items is known as food adulteration.

of the health of the public or consumer.Adulterated foods are a serious health hazard. They cause many fatal diseases
and even death. Dealing in adulterated food is a great crime. The criminals have to be identified and punished.

Unemployment Problem
Headline-Unemployment means lack of productive work or occupation. It is a state when a person does not have a
job for earning his living.
Added lines-It is a great concern in Bangladesh. Every year hundreds of thousands student are coming out from
college and university. Though it is one of the major responsibilities of the Government to provide job to those young
generation but the Government has failed to meet the job demand among the large population. Only a tiny fraction of
the total jobless has managed to get jobs in different government offices and private organization but the majority
remains unemployed.

Premature marriage
Headline-Premature marriage is the marriage of boys and girls who have not yet reached the age of marriage.
Added lines-Although the government of Bangladesh has fixed 18 and 21 years for girls and boys respectively,
people especially in the rural areas tend to marry their sons and daughters off earlier than the expected time. Marrying
at such a premature age, boys suffer a lot because they have to work hard to run a family. On the other hand, girls
suffer even more because they have to risk their lives during premature child birth.

Gender discrimination
Headline- Gender discrimination is the practice of treating any gender of the society unfairly.
Added lines-Female persons of our society are the worst sufferers of this discrimination. Our society is dominated by
male people. They get the highest of the opportunities available in the families. But, female children are assigned to
household works and are married off as soon as possible. So, they don't get opportunity to flourish their latent talent.

Corruption
Headline-The use of power for personal interest or gains is termed as corruption.

from diseases. Obviously, good health is the root of all happiness. But, to maintain good health is not an easy task. For
keeping one's health good, one has to follow certain rules and discipline. One has to take regular physical exercise,
proper rest or sleep. Early rising is essential for keeping health good. Balanced diet is the key word to concentrate in
this regard. Balanced diet is a diet that contains all kinds of food value. But, it is a great regret that most of the people
of our country live below the poverty line and they do not get the food they need for good health. Even the rich and
the educated people are not conscious of the rules of good health. They take a wide variety of imbalanced food only
for creating harm to their health. The complexities of our day to day life have a bad impact on our health. They create
frustration, hopelessness and many other mental disorders. All these are barriers to mental peace and sound body.
Those complexities have to be avoided because a simple and care-free life is conducive to good health.
