Konami Games | Restart Considerations

As you plan for reopening your casino, there are many things that need to be addressed. Konami
Gaming, Inc. is happy to provide a guide for planning those activities associated with getting Konami
games ready for play.

When returning machines to service following an extended dark period, the following actions can be
taken to mitigate and resolve potential machine errors/ issues:

1. Note that standard Konami games will retain their configuration settings and information:
Under normal restart scenarios with no posted errors, the games will retain their settings.

2. Prepare proper shutdown and audit for Konami progressive controllers:

Depending on the shutdown method used for Konami progressive controllers may not retain
exact configuration settings and progressive levels. Please review the documented progressive
levels for this controller present before shutting down the games and or controller and audit the
current controller values adjusting levels if necessary.

3. Plan an early restart date:

Konami Gaming recommends that on-site teams repower all equipment well in advance of the
casino opening to the public. We recommend a 2- to 3-week proactive restart period to allow for
troubleshooting and part ordering, as part supplies many be limited.

4. Anticipate a limited availability for Konami field technicians:

While many have an expressed a desire to have our technicians on site to assist with restart
efforts, we don’t have enough capacity to honor all requests at the immediate time. Please know
that Konami will provide assistance where possible and within our abilities to help in any way
possible.

5. Follow these recommended steps for restarting Konami Games:

• Check cable and power connections
• Power up games and perform a play test to ensure the game is fully functional
• If the game is not fully functional, troubleshoot and identify faulty component
• If unable to identify fault, gather data, list troubleshooting steps taken, capture pictures of
error messages, and contact Konami Customer Solutions for Technical Support
assistance
• If faulty components are identified, please contact Konami Customer Solutions to order
spare parts at customerservice@konamigaming.com.

6. Check these components if the game does not power on:

• Power supply
• Main board
• Power cord (ensure it is completely plugged in)
• Fuse
• Check that all connections for the power supply and main board are solid
7. Check for weak or dead batteries:
If during the startup process an error message is posted stating an "NV RAM Failure", this could
be a failure of one or both batteries located on the main processor board.
• CAUTION: If a faulty battery is detected, please DO NOT REMOVE BOTH BATTERIES
AT THE SAME TIME. Removing the batteries at the same time may erase the contents
of the NVRAM and a RAM CLEAR will be required to reconfigure the game
• Since the main board monitors the battery voltages, one or both errors above will appear
on the screen
• If a Low Battery Voltage error does not appear on the screen, it is not necessary to
replace any of the batteries
• If the batteries need replacement, please know that a Full RAM-Clear will be required
• The 3V battery number is a CR2032 battery, available at local retail locations
• To test the voltage on each battery:
o Pull the main board from the logic box
o With the batteries in their own sockets, measure the voltages by placing the
leads of a digital voltmeter on the positive and negative solder connections of
each battery
o Determine which battery has a low voltage
o Replace the low voltage battery with a new part
o Insert the main board into its logic box, power up the game and determine is the
error has been corrected
o If the error has been corrected, proceed with testing the game
• If a 923 Software Error with a “NVRAM FILE Broken” message appears on the screen,
please check the battery voltages. If both batteries are in good condition, perform a RAM
Clear on the game

8. Watch for Network Adapter errors:

If during the startup process an error message is posted stating “Unable to configure Network
Adapter”, please contact Konami at +1.866.KGI.SLOT, Ex. 1 for troubleshooting assistance with
the main processor board.

9. Watch for Monitor issues:

If during the startup process, the monitor remains dark, a failure in the video subsystem could be
the cause. Please contact Konami Service and Support at +1.866.KGI.SLOT, Ex. 1 for
troubleshooting assistance with video component including the GPU, LCD monitor and power.

10. Use recommended machine cleaning methods:

Konami Gaming recommends periodic cleaning of slot machines to support public health and
safety. Following actions are encouraged as preventative measures to avoid the spread of
illness:
• Regularly clean glass surfaces and exterior game cabinet surfaces to properly disinfect
• Target these areas specifically for cleaning:
o Cabinet exterior
o Buttons and face plate
o Displays
• Avoid using isopropyl alcohol on graphical plexiglass (belly door)
