The methods presented here are not the only way to do this type of work but is the way | do it. The reader must remember that this is being done by and presented by someone with many years of experience. Taking this into account when you start out, this is a slow process unlike learning about a new machine or piece of new software. il It will take about 3+ months for you to reach a basic understanding how this type of work comes to- il gether. EEPROM work requires a great deal of patience and time. Taking many notes and picturesqa as you start will be a great assistance to you later on. We try to present as much equipment as we can to give the broadest perspective. The various vehicles we show here may in actuality be some what diferent i in the area you work. Consider these to be merely examples for you to begin the process of getting “il into EEPROM work. Working on the vehicles shown in this book may or may not be the same even’ though the year, make and model are. There are always some small differences. Remember we i write this as a guide for you. You must start from here to proceed to collect and share as you ex- i pand into the EEPROM work a On Key Pro Web there is a beginners Group in the social area where many members are learning fi the process and contributing to it for others. tg a ae I have been working as an automotive locksmith for about 20 years and began getting into the EEPROM side of it about 4 years ago. | travel and teach classes occasionally. | am the Secretary for the Texas Locksmith Association at the time of this writing. My hobbies are flying helicopters, playing soccer (the real football), and enjoying time with the family. Without the support of my wife and family none of this would be possible. Contributors - There are many, many people who have helped me with this venture. If | have left you out it was not my intent but here are a few; Jay Barker, Kem Dowden, Chad Edwards, Jason Frank, Josh Heath, Nicky Lopez, Michael McFadden, Adam McKenzie, Jeremy Phillips, Dane Smolensky, Brandon Tucker, Jennifer Richards, my best friend Sean Preuss, and my father, Jim Hetchler. If | missed you please let me know so | can correct that error in the future additions. Difficulty - Inthe top right corner of each vehicle there will be a two (2) part section that will be color coded Removal Voading The left side is ‘Removal’ and the right side is ‘Reading’ The color will indicate the degrees of difficulty. With 7Lue being easiest up to Removal being the hardest. The Yellow (1°. =) and Orange (7@ea:lisg) being in between. 1 Introduction Key Pro USA LLCKEYPRC@INDEX KEYPRE@ Warranty - We do not imply, express, or offer any guarantees/warranties on the work a hota ag this book. Please send all correction notes and suggestions to EEPROMBOOK@KEYPRO.COM. | have a current policy of only adjusting year and models to. immo type, based on personally seeing them. Therefore please do not send me notes such as “2008 Mercedes is so and so system.” Your assistance with corrections will greatly help me improve future editions for the industry. Thank You. Skills - There are certain skills you should acquire before you attempt to get into this type of work. Among them are: Identification of Transponder types - You must know the various types of tran- sponder (chips) out there and how to identify them. There relationship to each other and families. EEPROM Theory - There is a book by Jeremy Phillips that will greatly help you along with this. The purpose and use of Binary Files. Knowing and identifying the location of Pin #1 These are but a few of the examples. Computer and tools- Know how to use, identify, and how to save files to your computer Soldering - This requirement is first and foremost before you proceed to trying to do EEPROM work. You must know how to take devices off and successfully put them back on in working order. We suggest you work with remotes for cars by taking the devices off working re- motes, putting them back on to see that they continue to work, is a good way to practice. Another would be buying a cheap calculator and doing the same thing. But it is imperative that you can do these skills well. Model Reference - On the following pages we will list an index of the models by; Make, Model, Year, Reading device, whether it is a direct read or conversion. The difficulty factor and the pages to be found on.
