been to Canada. She still adheres to old-age customs and traditions and has rooted the
image of the Lebanese villages deeply in her memories. (It was a way of recalling her
homeland and ancestral heritage in the country she had settled in.)
2. It implies that Canadians look down to the Lebanese culture, believing that Lebanon is not
developed or civilized as Canada. It reveals a sense of mockery.
3. “She is a mother-hen despite her diverse obligations or responsibilities.” It is a metaphor;
it means that Nouha is passionate who never ignores what is precious to her though she
has lots of duties. She does her best to protect and save her country against negative
influences.
