Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the
position of Guard (Senior) position.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks)
of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
Incumbent serves as a member of the Local Guard Force (LGF) as a Senior Guard and is responsible for
the control of persons and materials entering and leaving the facility during office hours at their post.
Reports to the Supervisor. Provides interment administrative support to the Supervisor regarding daily
assignments for respective Local Guard Force (LGF) Mission post.

EXPERIENCE: At least one year of previous work experience as a Guard with the U.S. Embassy
Addis Ababa Local Guard Force.

Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: High/Secondary school diploma is required.

Evaluations:
(You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the
Human Resources Office).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to understand the security control panel and to operate
emergency alarms and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and
radio communication equipment. Ability to use Automated External Defibrillator. Ability to use fire
extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (i.e. PR-24, straight batons, pepper
spray, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.). Daily duties may involve extended periods of walking
and/or standing in a wide variety of weather conditions. Possess local driver’s class III
license. (This may be tested).

Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals
(TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia may receive a compensation
package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-
employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
