APPARATUS DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTION

It is a laboratory equipment used in analytical chemistry

for the dispensing of variable amount of a chemical
solution and measuring that amount at the same time.
1. Acid Burette
An acid burette is a glass vial with graduation marks. It is
used in the laboratory for accurately measuring and
dispensing liquids.

It is a laboratory equipment used to connect pieces of

ground glass joint glassware to each other, to a vacuum
2. Adapter source, or to a water aspirator. It is also used to lead
liquids from a condenser to a receiving flask
during distillation.
It is piece of laboratory equipment used to produce an
open flame. It is usually made of glass but can also be
3. Alcohol Lamp
made of brass, aluminum or stainless steel.
It is otherwise called as alcohol burner or spirit lamp.

It is a laboratory equipment used in analytical chemistry

for the dispensing of variable amount of a chemical
4. Alkali/Base Burette solution and measuring that amount at the same time.
Base burets are used for base titrants. Basically, this is
used in titrations where the analyte is an acid.

It is a cylindrical borosilicate glass container used as a

5. Beaker
receptacle for solid and liquid substances.

6. Bunsen burner It is used as a heating device in laboratory experiments.

It is a heat resistant apparatus used to insulate the

7. Clay Flame Shield Bunsen burner flame from the surroundings. It is also
used to support materials when heating.

It is a piece of laboratory equipment used in the process

of heating substances. It is used in conjunction with the
8. Clay Triangle clay shield to create a stable framework in which to place
a substance -- usually a solid chemical -- while it is
heated to a high temperature.

It is a device used in the laboratory to condense hot

9. Condenser
vapors into liquids during distillation.

It is used to safely handle hot materials at very high

small amounts of substances up to the milligram level.

It is a piece of laboratory equipment that is used to

12. Distilling Flask separate mixtures of two liquids with different boiling
points.

13. Dropper It is used to transfer small quantities of liquids.

It is an apparatus used for the storing and mixing of

14. Erlenmeyer Flask
chemicals in a laboratory setting.

It is a piece of laboratory glassware used

to evaporate excess solvent in a solution - most
15. Evaporating Dish
commonly water - to produce a concentrated solution or
a solid precipitate of the dissolved substance.

It is a type of flask designed for uniform heating, boiling,

16. Florence Flask
distillation and ease of swirling.

It is used to channel liquid or fine-grained substances

17. Funnel
into containers with a small opening.

It is used to mix chemicals and liquids for

18. Glass Rod/ Stirring Rod
laboratory purposes.

It is a hollow tube made of glass that is used to connect

19. Glass Tubing
other pieces of lab equipment.
It is used for measuring volumes (amounts) of liquids

accurately.

It is a piece of laboratory equipment that is used to hold

21. Iron Clamp
things in place.

It is used to hold or support beakers during experiments

22. Iron ring
while connected to the iron stand.

It is used to supports the iron ring when heating

23. Iron stand
substances or mixtures in a flask or beaker.

It is a calibrated laboratory apparatus used to transfer a

24. Pipette measured amount of liquid from one container to
another.

25. Pipettor/
It is used to draw liquids in pipettes.
Aspirator

It is used for heating small amounts of liquids or solids

26. Test tube with a Bunsen burner or alcohol burner and is used for
reacting substances.

It is a brush used for cleaning test tubes and narrow -

27. Test tube brush mouthed laboratory glasswares such as beakers and
flasks.

It is attached to an iron stand and used to hold test tubes

28. Test Tube Clamp
in place during heating operations and/or reactions.

It is used for holding a test tube in place when the tube is

29. Test tube holder
hot or should not be touched.
It is used to hold upright multiple test tubes at the same
time. It is most commonly used when various different
30. Test tube rack solutions are needed to work with simultaneously, for
safety reasons, for safe storage of test tubes, and to
ease the transport of multiple tubes.

It is used to measure temperatures or temperature

31. Thermometer
changes with a high degree of precision.

It is used to incubate samples in water at a constant

temperature over a long period of time. It is also used to
