ASSESSMENT FOR WEEK NO. 1

Activity 1
Answer the questions:

1. Describe the professional teachers by means of a verse.

“INSTRUCT THE WISE, AND THEY WILL BE WISER STILL; TEACH THE
RIGHTEOUS AND THEY WILL ADD TO THEIR LEARNING”- PROVERBS 9:9

2. In what way on the professional teacher as an actor, a doctor, and a nurse?

The acting part isn't just in delivering entertaining lessons. If you are having a
bad day, you don't let it affect your job. Think about it: students have off days and zone
out during class. A teacher obviously can't "zone out," but it doesn't mean the
distractions aren't the same. You must act interested and focused and emotionally
gathered (as much as possible). In some cases, you may need to act normal when
feeling like you need to use the restroom. I've heard several stories like that.

Also, some teachers feel biased about students in unfair ways. (In general have less
sympathy for "punk" boys...silly stuff like that). You certainly have to act in order to not
treat students differently in unfair ways.

During class, you are the protector - the primary guardian of those kids. All
teachers is a nurse and doctor because they are CPR certified. They have to do
whatever it takes to help a student. They have to look out for your best interest as a
student. They are like actor because the have to motivate you and get you involve with
your work the best way the can to make your learn.So, if you have to act out a lesson to
get you to master it. That's what they do.

I would add "therapist" to the list. Students look up to their teachers in ways that
go beyond the job description. Often times, the teacher will become a kind of surrogate
parent, fulfilling the role of a caretaker. Someone who can listen and provide comfort
and guidance (with professional limits, of course)

"Like all good teachers, you have a touch of the actor..You also have the touch of
the doctor or nurse in you" said Rev. Father Joseph V. Landy, SJ.
3. Name at least two teachers who had made an impact in your life. Explain why
you like them.

Because she shaped me into what I


am today. She inserted values into my
system, created interest for a
particular subject in mind and
convinced me to follow or unfollow a

particular approach towards life. I have
seen this world through her
experience, ideas and teaching. Her
teaching will have a life long impact on
how I live my life.

Normally we like all teachers because


of their discipline and the way of
teaching and explaining concepts well.
I like her as my teacher a lot because

she motivates me and she is friendly
with all the teacher. This teacher
conducts regular question answer
session which helps me a lot.

4. Tayabas Western Academy is the school of choice. As you have chosen this
institution for your tertiary education, cite atleast 5 reasons for choosing this
school.

There are several reasons why I’d choose TAYABAS WESTERN ACADEMY;

a. Academic excellence
b. Character development
c. Whole child development
d. Inquisitions of skills for learning
e. Quality of teachers

5. Describe the school culture

The Tayabas Western Academy (the school of choice) is one of the best school.
This school believe that the educational development of students should not be limited.
They make sure the students will be involved to all the activities that can open their
eyes and hearts. The leadership and the organization is well-performed. This school
helps the students to reach their dreams. This school bold the students to be discipline
and productive.

6. Why is TWA a one-stop learning institution?

Tayabas Western Academy is designed to provide learning spaces and learning


environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Most
countries have systems of formal education, which is commonly compulsory. In these
systems, students progress through a series of schools. The names for these schools
vary by country but generally include primary school for young children and secondary
school for teenagers who have completed primary education. An institution
where higher education is taught, is commonly called a university college or university,
but these higher education institutions are usually not compulsory.

7. Give your insight on this, “Tayabas Western Academy is a pillar of the


municipality of Candelaria.”

The Tayabas Western Academy is a pillar of the municipality of Candelaria


because they gave us the gifts and legacies of quality education, respect for educational
processes, and the importance of punctuality. These admirable traits continue to be the
brand of the school. Tayabas Western Academy, has been constant in the community.
The school is shaped by the minds and heart of all who have walked its corridors. The
educational standard or the quality of education of this school are enough to those
people who wants to be successful someday and off course the Tayabas Western
Academy is the pride of the municipality of Candelaria.

Activity 3

8.15. Why do professional teachers need to be both efficient and effective?

At a glance, effectiveness and efficiency in teaching is quite confusing but upon


analyzing, you will find out that these two qualities are related and both are important in
teaching.

When can you say a teacher is efficient? Well, a teacher can exhibit efficiency in
the manner she gets things done, how she manages her class and her time in getting
things done. A good example wherein a teacher can be called efficient is when she
always comes to her class (and leave) on time, with well-prepared lesson plan,
instructional materials, engaged time on task, and everything is organized regardless of
output or result produced in the teaching-learning process.

How about an effective teacher? Basically, a teacher is effective when she gives
her best in teaching and able to make her students learn or master the skills and turned
them meaningful, relevant and applicable in real life situations. She is a teacher who
reaches out to her pupils and can make a difference in their lives.

Generally, efficiency and effectiveness in teaching are two different things.


Efficiency means doing things right while effectiveness is doing the right things. Anyway
whatever definition we gather, these two concepts should complement each other
because it’s hard to be an effective teacher if you are not efficient. Likewise, if you are
an effective teacher, most likely you are efficient. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that if
you are efficient, you are effective but you have the chance to be one. Always
remember that your students don’t care what you know (efficiency) until they know that
you care (effectiveness).
