college student was the victim of this case. She also babysits two kids for a living. During the
night, Anne and the two other kids left alone at home. While she was sleeping, a guy went to
their house threatening her while holding a gun and tried to kill her. At first, the perpetrator
asked for their valuables but later on she learned that it was a false motive. The true intention of
the perpetrator is to raped her and leaving without any evidences to the victim’s body. Polices
were amazed how smart the perpetrator can be. To their surprised, there other twelve unsolved
raped cases with similar M.O. Raped began in 1984 and continued to 1990’s but after the
incident in 1995 it was mysteriously stopped. They were led to an assumption that the suspect
must be working in police department or in related field but there are no ways for them to
identify since these cases were planned very well. They also learned that victims were all single
and living alone. These women do the same daily activities such as shopping in the same grocery
store. Crime analyst Ronnie smith was asked to develop a psychological profile of the rapist by
studying the manner in which the crimes were committed. Still, they cannot find enough
evidence to catch the rapist. Geographic profiling changed their luck. This became a great help
for them to catch who was the real suspect known as ‘Southside Rapist’. Geographic Profiling’s
basic theory about this is about the environmental criminology. It means that people in regards to
their noncriminal behaviors such as shopping or the same activities they do near their homes
such as shopping. They tried to inspect the aerial view of the place of crime. They also went to
the crime sights during the day and night to have a thorough investigation. With the help of
technology, they look for probabilities were the perpetrator might live or work. They come up
with the result that a sheriff veteran was living in the neighborhood within the places of crimes.
They took his DNA and it matched with sample they previously gathered to victim’s bodies.
Sex, Lies and DNA
On June 4, 1989, Ruby Morris was reported missing while his husband was said to be on
a vacation in California. Ruby and Earl Morris were an accountants. They owned and managed
their tax firm. They are married for twenty years with three children. At their home, her daughter
Cindy suspects that something happened with their mother. Ruby Morris was near and
meticulous person. Her daughter Cindy noticed that things were out of place. Also, the .22
Caliber Pistol went missing as they usually kept it in a closet. Luminol was used in this case. It
will actually glow when into contact with blood enzymes. It was used in the headboard of the
bed, bathtub, cement and master bedroom carpet and found something on it. Surprisingly, the
whole bedroom floor started to glow with the use of luminol. Police concluded that there were in
a violent crime scene. Scientist compared the DNA of one person to another to find out the DNA
of the victim without the victim itself. As they do their investigation they have discovered the
deepest and darkest secrets of the Morris family. They discovered that the father of Ruby Morris
was the father of her child. Instantly his father was arrested for incest. They also got to know that
Ruby was depressed because she knew that her husband is having an affair with her sister Peggy.
With the information they talked to Peggy and found out that she was having an affair with Earl.
She admitted that she was about to be in San Diego with Earl. Police also found out that Earl had
been in San Diego because of his luggage inside the car he rented. Also, they saw Earl’s car in
parking lot of the airport. They used the luminol and reveals that there was a huge bloodstains
which belongs to Ruby’s. Police discovered that Ruby Morris was murdered by her husband and
her body was in the burning boat that sank in the Pacific Ocean.

In the year 1984, young couple got lost searching for a campsite in Virginia’s Blue Ridge
Parkway. They decided to spend the night sleeping in the car. At midnight, someone threatened
and tried to killed them. But the motive of the suspect was to raped the victim, she was
traumatized by it. Later, there was another sexual assault and revealed the same person who
raped the victim. He was Edward Honaker. A 34 year old welder with a dishonorable from
discharged from the military. They found similar clothes worn by the assailant in Edward’s car
and was identified by the victims. The most damaging evidence came when the victim took the
stand. Edward Honaker was sentenced to three life terms. While Honaker was in prison he
continued to proclaim his innocence. Five years after he was convicted for the crime he did not
commit, one of his letter was received by someone who works in numerous cases of wrongfully
convicted. Kate who worked with the cases of wrongfully convicted strongly said that there was
no such thing as a hair match which was one of the evidence of the victim. Hair testimony only
tells that it is similar or dissimilar or that is consistent or not. But still it cannot be a strong proof
to identify a person. They later on learned that victim had been to a hypnotist to have her
memory hypnotically refreshed the hypnotist notes in a letter. This letter was given to a
prosecutor and the victim was brought to him because she could not recall the face of her
assailant. Centurion Ministries Inc. was the one who helped Edward with his case. The vaginal
swab was taken to be test thoroughly. Polymerase chain reaction or PCR is the test used when
the sample is small or has been degraded over the time. They found out in the test that DNA
were from three individuals, the fiancé and the other rapists. They discovered that there are three
four genetic marker found in the sperm fraction of the PCR test. The victim made a surprising
confession after the rape she married her fiancé but later on got divorced. She also admitted that
at the time of rape she was sexually involved with another man. After several test, it was strongly
concluded that Edward Honaker was not the contributor of the three four genetic marker.
