Module 1: Discussion Questions

A. How is a hypothesis like a road map for researchers?


Hypothesis is like a roadmap for researchers because it is not only just a preliminary
assumption that we used to know or a tentative answer to a research problem, but it also
serves as a strategic plan that forces the researchers to think about what results they
should look for in. Thus, by formulating a hypothesis, the researchers will be guided in
their future steps and will be well directed to their specific aims.

B. How does following the research plan contribute to the conduct of research?
As being stated in the module, research is a process of discovering new knowledge by
adopting a step-by-step process in generating new information. Hence, following a
research plan is a must in the conduct of certain research because it serves as the main
pillar that builds the study. Without it, the conduct of research will be a mess and will not
develop. It is because formulating a research plan is the top-most step that every
researcher should not skip. It contains the specific aims, the strategy or methodology that
they going to use as well as the resources that will support their study.

C. Does the complexity of a topic matter in research? Why or why not?


For me, it doesn’t matter if you have a simple or complex topic to research. As long as
it serves its main purpose which is to inform action, to prove a theory, and contribute to
developing knowledge in a filed or study. We should always be reminded that the main
goal of conducting a certain study is to provide the best solution to some of the world's
problems. Furthermore, it is also important that a certain study should follow the
scientific method for it to be well presented and create a worthy result.
