 x 
 
u u = ( x 3x −2x )  3x  = x 2 + 9 x 2 = 14 x 2
 −2 x 
 

Should read:

 x 
 
u u = ( x 3x −2x )  3x  = x 2 + 9 x 2 + 4 x2 = 14 x 2
 −2 x 
 

Next line,

u = u u = 14 x

Should read

u = u u = 14 x2 = 14 x

Page 125 Definition: Representing a Ket as a Bra should read:

To obtain the bra corresponding to a given ket use the Hermitian conjugation operation:

(α ψ )

=α* ψ

⇒ ψ + φ = ( 3 + 2i ) u1 − 6 u 2 + ( 4 + i ) u3

Should read:

⇒ ψ + φ = ( 3 + 2i ) u1 − 5 u2 + ( 4 + i ) u3
