1.1 British Kerbs

British Kerbs have been updated for the 2020 Civil 3D Release. Changes include bringing
the naming in line with the standards, a ‘custom’ kerbtype option, full control over the
concrete backing, a useful ‘Waterline Offset’ variable and all the link and the point codes
have been exposed to the properties sheet.

The designation table supports HB1,HB2,HB3,BN1,BN2,BN3,SP2 and SP3 standard kerb

designs. Choosing a ‘Custom’ KerbType will allow manual control of these dimensions as
shown below:

Note: Custom values will be ignored should a standard designation be chosen.

Two insertion points are available, the default is ‘Front Face’ to allow the kerb to be inserted at
the edge of a carriageway. The second, ‘Back of Kerb’ gives a pavement based insertion level.
The ‘WaterLine Offset’ variable gives control to vertical offset based on the ‘Front Face’
insertion point. This will effectively allow the sub assembly to be raised slightly in relation to the
top of a carriageway.

With ‘Concrete Backing’ set to ‘Yes’ all aspects of this component are controllable on the
properties sheet.

All Link codes are exposed on the properties sheet. Common link codes are shown below with
their default values. Other link codes are set to <No Codes>, which can be overwritten on the
properties sheet.

All point codes are exposed on the properties sheet. Common point codes are shown above
with their default values. Other point codes are set to <No Codes>, which can be overwritten on
the properties sheet.
Note: ‘Surfacing Level’ has been set to <No Codes> as a default, as it is expected that the
connected carriageway will have an edge point code assigned. If needed, this can be changed
on the properties sheet.

Two shape codes are available. ‘Kerb Shape Code’ defaults to ‘Kerb’ and ‘Backing Shape Code’
defaults to ‘Backing’.

Note: All point codes on all designations share the same design. This ensures that transitions
between designations can be linked by the appropriate feature line in the corridor.
