Coastal Navigation

1) The document provides methods for calculating course made good, estimated position, set and rate of current, and transferred position lines using bearings, course, speed, and timing information from coastal navigation. 2) Key steps involve calculating distances and directions traveled based on speed over time and accounting for current settings and rates to determine a vessel's estimated position. 3) Examples show applying these methods to find estimated positions, set and rate of current, and positions at future times using bearings taken of landmarks over time.

Find Course to Steer -

Method: Position (A) & (B) বসট কেতে হতে,এটাে বযাগফে = CMG, then position (A)
হতে Set ও rate নিতে হতে , course made good - এ Speed নিতে হতে , এোে নিএািুযােী
Ans :

Course made good = 0310 T

Speed made good = 15.2 KT

Course to steer = 0240 T

Find compass course to steer .

Note :

True Course to Steer বক Compass course to steer - এ convert কেতে হতে Initial position -

Ans :

Compass course to Steer = to be calculated

Ship's Course = 1000T Position A = 510 27' N at 06 00 HRS 0040 50' T

Ship's Speed = 10 KT Position B = 510 20' N at 08 00 HRS 0040 05' T

Find set and rate _

Method :

(A) হতে Course ও Speed (C) বকতট নিই (C) ও (B)

Ans:

Set = 1130 T , Rate = 4.6 KT

Note :

Ship's course = >

Current = >>>

Another one regarding Set and Rate -

Ship's course = 3000 T Position A = 510 21' N 0040 08' N

Ship's Speed = 11 KT Position B = 510 25'N 0040 45'N

Method : Same

Ans :

Course made good = 1000 T

Speed made good = 11.8 KT

Current Setting = 2100 T

Rate = 4.2 KT
Lesson regarding Drift:

Drift is the total distance , if we take it for 1 hour it is called Rate.

Simultaneous bearing :

position line
position line

is the position of the ship

Lesson on transferred position line :

At 09 00 HRs Lavernock point brg 0150T×5.8'

Ship's course = 2850 T , Speed 10.0 KT . At 1100 HRs Foreland Point light house brg 2350T .

Find position of vessel at 1100 HRs

Method :

May the math has a little mistake . See the next one .

At 0900 HRs Stock Pole head brg = 3400T , Ship's Course = 1050T , Speed = 12.0 KT , At 1100 HRs numbers
point brg = 0500T , Find position of vessel at 1100 HRs

Method :

At 1200 HRs Baggy point brg 1400 T , Ship's course = 1090 T , speed = 10 KT , Current setting = 0100T×2KT.
At 1300 HRs Baggy point brg = 1850T . Find the position of the vessel at 1330 HRs .

Method:

At 2100 HRs Fore land point Lighthouse brg = 2350C , Ship's Course = 2900C , Speed = 13KT . Current
Setting = 1900T×2.0KT. At 2330 HRs Worms head brg = 3370C . Find the position of the ship at 2330 HRs

Method :

Again , in similar fashion we have to convert compass course to True course and then ------------
335.70 T

32.5KT , 289.030T

1900T , 5KT

Foreland point brg 234.030T
