b Installing two eRRUs
• Mounting the second eRRU is similar to the way for mounting the first eRRU. The distance
between the bottom of the steel strips of the second eRRU and that of the first eRRU is the
height of an eRRU module.
• During back to back installation, it is recommended that removing the backward conversion
bracket of the second eRRU to the front, insure the cabling cavities of the two eRRUs are in
the same direction.
NOTE
When the AC eRRU is installed outdoors, the SPM60A surge
protection box must be installed. In this scenario, first connect the
external PGND cable between the surge protection box and the
grounding point and then connect the equipotential cable between
the surge protection box and the AC eRRU.
CAUTION

e Installing a CPRI optical fiber
1. Lower the puller of the optical module, insert an optical module into the CPRI0/IR0 port on the
eRRU, and raise the puller.
CAUTION
• The optical modules to be installed must match CPRI rates.
• The two optical modules connected to the same optical fiber must of the same specification.
• The performance of an optical module that is exposed to air for more than 20 minutes may be abnormal.
Therefore, you must insert an optical fiber into an unpacked optical module within 20 minutes.
2. Remove the optical fiber cap and connect one end of the optical fiber to the optical module
on the eRRU. If one optical fiber is used, the port connected to the optical module is
CPRI0/IR0 by default.
3. Connect the other end of the optical fiber to the optical module on the BBU.
4. Lay out the cable and bind the cable using cable ties.
5. Label the installed cable.
CAUTION
Install the optical fiber in the cable clip near the power cable to leave some slack at the bend.
Tighten the screws on the cable clip to 1.4 N·m.

f Installing the eRRU Antenna
• The eRRU antenna ports are connected to the RF ports at the bottom of the eRRU in sequence through RF jumpers.
In addition, the antenna ports are sealed using the 1+3+3 waterproof method. For details, see Appendix d.
• For details about matched eRRU antenna specifications, see Antenna Technical Description. For details about how
to install antennas, see Hardware Installation Guide.

Checking the eRRU Hardware Installation
a Checking the Device Installation
1 The position for each device conforms to the engineering drawing and meets the space requirement. Sufficient
space is reserved for equipment maintenance.
2 When installing the eRRU on the pole, secure the bracket and ensure that the devices are tightened properly.
4 Waterproof blocks are securely installed in vacant cable troughs of the eRRU cabling cavity, and the cover plate for
the cabling cavity is securely installed. In addition, vacant RF ports are covered with dustproof caps and the caps
are tightened.
5 The optical modules at both ends of the optical fiber have the same specifications, rate, and transmission distance.
6 Labels are correct, legible, and complete at both ends of each cable, feeder, and jumper.
2 None of power cables and PGND cables can be short-circuited or reversely connected.
4 The bare wires and lug handles at the wiring terminals are tightly wrapped up with PVC insulation tape.
5 The protection grounding of the equipment room must share one set of grounding body with the surge
protection grounding device.
6 There are no connectors or joints on each power cable or PGND cable.
8 The bending radius of the cables must meet the requirement to prevent power loss.
9 Check the shield layer of the power cable and ensure that it is properly connected.

a Hoisting the eRRU and Mounting Kits
1. Bind the eRRU and the mounting kit properly using a lifting sling.
CAUTION
• When hoisting the eRRU and mounting kits onto
the tower, protect them from colliding with the WARNING
tower.
Do not hoist only the eRRU hander onto the tower. Do

installed on a pole. Otherwise, the lifting sling may fall down, thereby
damaging devices or causing personal injuries.
2. Use a fixed pulley to hoist the eRRU and mounting kits onto the tower separately.
NOTE
• The AC eRRUs, including eRRU3232 (AC),
eRRU3251 (AC), eRRU3255 (AC), and eRRU3232b
(AC), are not recommended to be installed on a
tower. If an AC eRRU needs to be installed on a
tower, it is recommended that the tower height be
less than or equal to 10 m. When the AC eRRU is
installed on the tower, severe security risks may
occur, especially when the tower is more than 10 m
high.
• Tower-mounted installation is applicable to self-
supporting tower, guyed tower, tube tower, and pole.
1. After climbing up to the tower, installation engineer A secures the fixed pulley to the tower platform support and
leads the lifting sling through the fixed pulley.
2. Installation engineer C binds the eRRU and mounting kits using the lifting sling and secures the traction sling to the
eRRU handle.
3. Installation engineer B pulls the lifting sling downwards, and installation engineer C pulls the traction sling outwards
to protect the eRRU and mounting kits from colliding with the tower.
4. Installation engineer A catches the eRRU and mounting kits and then unties the sling.
The preceding hoisting procedure is for reference only.
