Vizulinx BACnet support for Taktis


V1.1.6

Kentec would like to issue a technical clarification regarding firmware update V1.1.6 for Vizulinx and the
implemented BACnet support for Taktis Fire Alarm Control Panels.

The implementation of BACnet on Vizulinx complies to the ASHRAE specification and provides status for Panel
nodes, zones, Loop devices and Loop device sub-addresses where applicable. The BACnet data from Vizulinx is
sent as a bit string and although this is a more efficient way of sending status data for the fire alarm system, we
are aware it may not be compatible with all BACnet systems. It is imperative before proposing Vizulinx to be
used for BACnet to liaise with the BACnet engineers and ensure the BACnet system and the Vizulinx BACnet data
format are compatible.

For detailed information on BACnet protocol implementation please read the Vizulinx product manual MAN-
1428 which can be found on our website www.kentec.co.uk

Please be aware when connecting any Kentec products to third-party equipment it is the responsibility of the
system designer/installer to check all products are compatible.

To increase the compatibility of Vizulinx with BACnet systems Kentec are undertaking a review of the BACnet
implementation to look at providing fire alarm status in additional formats. We will provide further updates on
this when available.
