ABSTRACT
Life satisfaction has been defined as a “global evaluation by the person of his or her life”.
Though several life satisfaction surveys and studies were conducted, the life satisfaction of
childhood has just become the recent focus of the studies. It was stated that the life satisfaction
studies conducted to adolescents and children reflects ideas on how the respondents’
v
psychological well-being work. From this, Huebner (2001) have made use of the MSLSS
satisfaction judgments. Such differentiated assessments are expected to enable more focused
diagnostic, prevention, and intervention efforts. For example, students who indicate relatively
high levels of dissatisfaction with their family experiences should necessitate different
intervention strategies than students who indicate greater dissatisfaction with their school
experiences. Such differentiated assessments may also yield more revealing comparisons with
traditional objective indicators used to assess the quality of life of children and adolescents
(e.g., divorce rates, family income levels, per pupil expenditures on schooling). [ CITATION Hue \l
1033 ]
Specifically, the MSLSS was designed to (a) provide a profile of children’s satisfaction
with important, specific domains (e.g., school, family, friends) in their lives; (b) assess their
general overall life satisfaction; (c) demonstrate acceptable psychometric properties (e.g.,
acceptable subscale reliability); (d) reveal a replicable factor structure indicating the
meaningfulness of the five dimensions; and (e) be used effectively with children across a wide
range of age (grades 3-12) and ability levels (e.g., children with mild developmental disabilities
From this, the researchers conducted a study on how the number of acclaimed friends
can correlate with the daily satisfaction rate of the grade 12 students of Rizal National Science
High School. Moreover, the researcehrs have made use of an adapted questionnaire to observe
a correlation between the number of acclaimed friends and the daily satisfaction rate of the
grade 12 students of Rizal National Science High School. The researchers also have made use
vi
of a classification table for the respondents to isolate and count the number of acclaimed
friends. Through this, the researchers were able to gather data from the respondents and
statistical treatments such as weighted mean, t-test and Pearson Correlation R were used to
It was shown in the results that the among the grade 12 students of Rizal National
Science High School, most of the students, considering the sample population, have
approximately 16-20 acclaimed friends in their social lives, the students of Rizal National
Science High School is satisfied with the day considering the presence of family, friends, school
and self circumstances and there is a relationship established between the number of acclaimed
friends and the daily satisfaction rate as interpreted and analyzed through the use of effective
statistical treatments.
