Outcomes of the IEEE orientation for student chapter: One-day workshop


Digital Image Processing
The aim of this workshop is to have an Industry, Academia interaction in the signal
processing domain. As Image processing is a core subject, this domain is relevant to the industry
for employability This workshop introduces the programming skills Image Processing domain
with MATLAB. The workshop is open for all interested Atria Students of other departments. It
is an attempt to crate interest in MATLAB programming skills leading to the adaptation of this
tool in different domains of their interest. This workshop bridges the gap between the VTU
syllabus and basic programming skills within and beyond curriculum

This workshop comprises of different sessions. In the inaugural session by xxxxxxxxx to


highlight need of programming skills beyond VTU curriculum and to understand the scope in
industry. An overview of latest development in field Image processing is given to students.

The Hands-on sessions will be handled by the team comprising of ECE faculty. basics
of MATLAB programming for image processing through PPT presentations and hands-on
sessions.

At the end of this workshop the participant will have the fundamentals and advances in
programming in the form of implementation of the algorithms to make the industry ready
engineers.

About MATLAB: MATLAB is the most popularly used simulation tool in the scientific
computing. It has the features of interactive calculations programming graphs animation and
complete portability across platforms- all under one roof. This tool is supported by different
toolboxes which are collections of functions written for special applications like symbolic
computation, image processing, statistics, control systems, signal processing, neural networks,
financial calculations, biological signal processing.
