Interview Script
Interview Introduce yourself
Hello, my name is Natcha Thanasumpunth or you can call me Cartoon. I am 17 years old and I
want to apply to the medical field in the future. Now, I study at MUIDS or known as Mahidol
University International school, before that, I studied at Pleanpattana school which is a Thai
school.
What work experience have you done? What did it teach you?
Well, I would say that I have done a lot of works, especially volunteers. One of my precious
experiences is DONATION. This is the project that I worked on with my friends. I started this
project because I saw that many people didn’t have enough time to donate their staff, so I want
to be their representative for doing this. It was a very challenging project because I had to
communicate with my teammates and contact places, and had to carefully manage time.
Consequently, we succeed in this project together and learn to work as a team.
20 Oct 2020
I made the first appointment with Miss Sandy.
21 Oct 2020
I interviewed Miss Sandy, at a biology lab. I already prepared the interview script, and took a
video. As a result, I got 4.5 over 6 because I was quite struggling when there were external
questions and I had to improve it.
18 Nov 2020
Making an appointment with the interviewer (Miss Sandy) and I did not fix the interview script
because I think that it was already ok.
23 November 2020
I had the second interview with Miss Sandy and I got 6.
Reflection
For the first interview, I had already prepared the script of the interview by answering all
the questions on the guideline sheet. After that I had practice more than 1 time before I got
interviewed. However, Miss Sandy did not ask all the questions on the guideline, so some
questions were unpredictable such as “Do you think that you are a roundabout person?” That
distracted me and made me more confused and cannot make it fluence. At the first time, I got
4.5 over 6.
After a few weeks, I made the second appointment. This time I did not prepare much
because I used the same script since it was already fine. Nevertheless, I knew that it would be
unpredictable questions, so I did not get confused and was able to answer questions. Miss
Sandy said that I had a good fluence, but I had to improve in part of “um” that showed my
unconfident and sometimes distracted listener.
Personal Statement
Outline
Feedback : Earn
Score : 4/6
Good use of questions leading to your story but the story might be too cliche or too simple. I
suggest you add more detail and more on personal experience in order to make it more unique.
Feedback : P’Gib
This SOP is too cliche. I suggest you straight forward to the point that why do you want to be a
doctor and provide reasons which are more practical.
Final draft
What I want to do in the future; this question is repeated to myself over the years. Now,
my answer is quite to be a clearer picture that I want to be a voluntary doctor. When I was
around 13 years old, I had to go on an outside school field trip with my friends. It was a different
field trip contrasted with another field trip which I had been before because this time I went to
the countryside and stayed in a tent. During the field trip, I had to cook by myself by using
ingredients around there, planting rice, climbing mountains and lighting fire by using only coal
and matches. I lived there for 5 days and found out that it was a challenging experience; also
worth it for me. It made me realize that I enjoyed visiting different places even if it was rural or
far away from my home.
At the same time, I preferred to learn academic subjects, especially sciences. When I
studied at high school, they gave me a chance to choose any subjects as elective subjects; I
chose biology, advanced biology, integrated science and leadership. To be extended more,
advanced biology was quite difficult and interesting in part of content and experiments. I learned
about cell molecular biology, diversity and classification, cell cycle and genetic inheritance and
expression which is more advanced than general biology in grade 10. Indeed, many
experiments such as forensic investigation which observed DNA sequences through
electrophoresis while projects such as Platyhelminthes Response Plan and Harlequin
Ichthyosis which I had to study specific cases of diseases and made a possible detailed
response plan. Furthermore, Leadership course did not just enhance me more essential skills,
but it also gave me the idea that it is not hard for any people such as me to become a good
leader. I know what I should do to pursue my dream project and how to learn for my-self
development.
However, when I tried to find more information about pathway to be a doctor, I heard
many people say to me that it is very tough and exhausting; they also said you have to sacrifice
your time for this job. Thus, once I wonder if I can handle this job or not. Fortunately, I had a
chance to attend Chulalongkorn Medical Camp. I would say that it was very worthwhile camping
because it lets me learn more about what a doctor is by studying what seniors have to learn
such as stimulating surgery, discovering human anatomy, and survey clinical care. The most
important thing that I got from this camp was the answer that the doctor is the only job that I
desire to be from the bottom of my heart.
In addition, I believe that medical facilities in Thailand still lack human resources and
also believe that management skill is vital for our life not only to apply with medicine but also
apply to daily life such as communicating with surrounding people and organising my life. In the
future, after I graduated, I will collect experiences and skills from the learning process and
develop myself to become an excellent doctor someday. Furthermore, when I ensure that I have
enough skills, I will set up my own team to travel and visit people in another part of Thailand,
especially in areas where people usually do not go. I will utilize both management and medical
knowledge that I have learned to become a professional doctor and help numerous people as
much as I can do throughout my whole life.
Feedback :
Guy. I see that this is a well done SOP. It includes lots of info about your experience and how
well your base was. I only think that the sentence about climbing and cooking rice skills is kinda
out of place from what doctors need. You might include the real experiment from that camp or
just don't include it at all or just ask miss fon because she knows everything what to do or fix.
Earn : I think the content is okay but, I suggest you change the sentence structure or how they
were written so that they would sound more interesting.
Ms. Fon - Overall is good. I only fixed some small grammar mistakes.
Personal Journal (SOP)
26 oct 2020
I began to research personal
statements in the university that I am
interested in; Ramathibodi University. I
also read my senior SOP to be my
guideline.
Now, I started to make an outline of my
SOP.

8 November 2020
I changed to rewrite the outline of SOP because I decided to attend new courses in the medical
field. I try to search for more information about what they study about, so I can show how I am
interested in this course.
Linked : https://www.rama.mahidol.ac.th/meded/th/Course_4
11 November 2020
I ask my friend to check my first SOP (Earn), miss Fon and my teacher from outside school.
12 November 2020
I asked my friend to evaluate my score for the first SOP; I got 4/6.
18 November
I started to write the second SOP and improve it by following the last feedback.
20 November 2020
I had to ask my friend to score the sheet; I got 6/6.
Reflection
At the beginning of SOP, I researched the criteria of Mahidol University in part of the
medical pathway. The 3 main parts that I had to include are reasons to study, inspiration, and
target in the future. I inserted this information in the body paragraph and in the conclusion. Also,
I had read senior’s SOP before, so I had an idea to write an outline. For the first draft of SOP,
my friends and other people said that it was too cliche or too simple because other people’s
SOP will appear the same as mine in some parts. Therefore, in the second SOP, I changed
structure only for introduction to mention directly about the job that I want to be. Moreover, I
rewrote my words that Miss Fon commented on above.
WOOP
Goal 1
My wish : do not be late in the morning.
Best outcome: I expect that I would not have any tardy marks during 3 weeks.
My obstacles :
- get up late
- Don’t prepare myself in the evening
- Leave my house too late
- Washing my hair
- Traffic jam
Plan :
Divide in to 2 cases
1. Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday
a. Leave home at 7.15
2. Wednesday
a. Leave home at 7.40
Data Record
Monday 9/11/2020
Tuesday 10/11/2020
Wednesday 11/11/2020
Thursday 12/11/2020
Monday 16/11/2020
Tuesday 17/11/2020
Wednesday 18/11/2020
Friday 20/11/2020
Reflection
I would say that this goal did not succeed because most of the time I leave nearly 7.15,
but I would arrive at school after 7.30 which was tardy. I think that I have to change my plan to
save my time. From the data record, I spent approximately 20 minutes from my home to school.
Therefore, if I leave home at 7.15, I will not arrive at 7.30. If I have to improve my plan again, I
will leave home early by leaving at 7.05-7.10 in order to be sure that I will not get tardy.
However, on Wednesday, which is a special day that the class starts at 8.05, so I did not have
any problems on this day because I always arrived on time; before the bell rang.
The obstacles that I found during recording the experiment was about organising my
time. I did not wake up late, but there are external factors such as on Monday and Friday, we
had to send clothes to watch which my driver had to spend time to pick the clothes to the car, so
it means that I cannot leave home immediately.
Goal 2
My wish: Improving planning skill
Best outcome : Achieve all goals that I plan each day → improve responsibilities and organizing
skills
My obstacles :
- school’s homework
- Personal factors
- Outside factors such as friends, places, times
Plan:
1. Try to set goals for each day
2. Evaluate how much I achieve my goals
3. Next day, I will try to set goals that I can achieve all of them
