What do they like about these apps? (connect with friends, funny, etc.)
What don’t they like? (ask them to think about bullying, body image,
comparing self to others, etc.)
Transition to Body Thinking about what we like and don’t like about these apps, let’s design
our own apps!
2mins
Go to the Classroom and open the “Design an App” assignment.
Body Time
Learning Activity #1 Students can work individually or in groups. They will answer the
questions in the Doc and then use Drawings to design an app. They will 30mins
have the remainder of the class to complete this.
Teacher Notes: Assessments/ NAME just got Chromebook privileges back - please ensure he is using it
Differentiation wisely and not using it for games, Twitter, chatting, etc. The chat app
appears in the bottom-right corner of Gmail and other Google apps.
NAME, NAME, and NAME may go to homework club - this is OK! NAME may
also ask to go to the office - this is also okay. Just make sure he actually goes
there (it’s just across the hall from the classroom) and that he’s alright.
Please remind NAME to submit her Jamboard project! I have received her
Passion Project but not her Jamboard yet (which was on an FNMI topic of her
choosing).
NAME is new and is ELL. She has been struggling with using her Chromebook
and doing Google Assignments. I f she is struggling or seems quite lost, ask
her to instead try using Google Docs to tell me about herself. She can add
images, change the font, etc. Maybe she can tell me about her family, how
she is enjoying school so far, if she has any pets, what her hobbies are, etc.

Closure Time
Consolidation of Learning: Around 3pm (10mins prior to the end of class), ask students to discuss
what app they created. They can submit their work in the Classroom or
share them with Mrs. Zachery.
What’s good about their app? Why’d they choose to create an app like 10mins
that? Do they think there are any downsides to it?
If students don’t just openly start sharing, call on the following students
(as they typically will add something): NAMES REMOVED
