Semi Detailed Lesson Plan in English 1

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
 Identify action words.
 Give example of a verb.
 Work cooperatively in group activities.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Verbs- The action words
Reference: English Basics and Beyond (Integrated Reading and Language)
Materials: Visual Aid, Laptop, Cartolina, Marker
Values: Cooperation

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
i) Prayer
ii) Greetings
iii) Checking of Attendance
iv) Classroom Management
v) Review
B. Motivation
Dance and sing a song about action verbs.
C. Presentation and Discussion
Ask the students what they did earlier. Let them write the action words in the black board
and ask them if those words represent an action. Tell them that those words represents an action
and therefore those words are an action words and they are called verbs.
Show the meaning of the verb and give examples of it. Let them give their own example
of a verb.

VERB- an action word that tells what
someone or something does. RUN SING SWING SIT

D. Generalization
Show a drawing of 9 hands that contain nouns and verbs. Let the students color all the
hands that contain verbs.

E. Application
Group the students into 3 and let them play a word hunt.
Read a sentence and let the students find the right verb that describe in the sentences.

Encircle the action word or verb in each sentence.

6) Children like badminton.
7) Jess plays basketball.
8) Mother and Father join the children.
9) Grandmother tells us interesting stories.
10) My cousins dive under the water.

V. Assignment
Use the following action words in a simple sentences.
1) feed
2) stroll
3) ride
4) eat
5) share
