Retreat Taize
We are gathered here in the presence of God. Let us be still for a few
moments asking God to remain with us in our prayer. (Pause)
All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, from heaven shine forth with your glorious light. Veni Sancte Spiritus
Come, Father of the poor, come, generous Spirit, come, light of our hearts. Veni Sancte Spiritus

GOSPEL READING
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one
has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my
friends is you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer,
because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you
friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my
Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear
fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in
my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

SILENCE (5 minutes)
INTERCESSIONS (Stand)
Leader: With faith, let us call upon our Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son
of Mary, who alone can give us fullness of life. Let us say to him:
1. Risen Christ, you fill our lives with your compassion so that we may always
seek you.
2. Risen Christ, you know our longing: lead us on the path of eternity.
3. Risen Christ, we pray to you for those who are just beginning to know you.
4. Risen Christ, we pray to you for those who cannot believe: your love is
always offered.
5. Risen Christ, you are the support of those who encounter difficulties and
discouragement: lead us on the path of eternity.
6. Risen Christ, we pray to you for those who have been victims of violence
and humiliation: come to heal their wounds.
7. Risen Christ, you guide us by your Spirit: gather all the nations into your
Kingdom.
Leader: At this point in the liturgy, you are warmly invited to come near to the
cross and offer your personal prayer in the quiet of your own heart.
Feel free to place your head on the cross, kiss it or simply place your
hand on the cross.
Jesus, remember me
When you come into your kingdom
Jesus, remember me
When you come into your kingdom
PRAYER
O God the Father of all, you ask every one of us to spread love and reconciliation
where people are divided. You open this way for us, so that the wounded body of
Jesus Christ, your Church, may be leaven of communion for the poor of the earth
and in the whole human family. Amen.
SILENCE (transition)
The priest places the Blessed Eucharist on the altar, in the monstrance or ciborium. He genuflects before Jesus and
kneels. While a Eucharistic song is being sung, he incenses the Blessed Sacrament.
O salutaris Hostia
Quae caeli pandis ostium;
Bella premunt hostilla,
Da robur, fer auxillium.
All: Amen.
LITANY
Leader: Response:
Lord, have mercy… Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy… Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy… Lord, have mercy.
Let us pray.
Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of your most beloved Son and
upon the praises and satisfaction which He offers you in the name of sinners; and
to those who implore your mercy, in your great goodness, grant forgiveness in the
name of the same Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you forever
and ever. Amen.
Genitori, Genitoque
Laus et iubilatio,

Sit et benedictio:

Deus, qui nobis, sub sacraménto mirábili, passiónis tuæ memóriam reliquísti:

redemptiónis tuæ fructum in nobis júgiter sentiámus: Qui vivis et regnas in sæcula

Amen.
After the prayer, the priest of deacon puts on the humeral veil, genuflects, and takes the monstrance or ciborium. He
makes the sign of the cross over the people with the monstrance or ciborium, in silence.
