• Animals do have a soul


Some people believe that animals have no soul because they
want to eat the animals, but actually animals do have a soul.
Here is a scientific proof: Some of the similar activities between
humans and animals are:

Eating

Mating

Defending

Sleeping

Blood inside the


body

Taking Shelter

There are so many points of similarity between human be-


ings and animals, so it is logical to say that animals also have a
soul.

• All living beings are children of God


Bhagavad-gita says sarva-yonisu, “In all species of life the soul
exists.” There are 8,400,000 different species of life. Of all of
them, the human form is considered the best, because in the
human form of life one has got the developed intelligence.

Sometimes the soul may occupy a human body, sometimes an


insect’s body, sometimes an animal’s body, or sometimes even a
demigod’s body. In this way the soul keeps revolving round and
round in the cycle of birth and death, amongst the 8,400,000
species of life. So the body is only a dress for the soul and the
bodies of different species are just like different types of dress-
es. All living beings in different bodies of animals, birds, etc.,
are children of God.

• Animals also think and feel pains and pleasures


It’s not just human beings who can think and feel pains and
pleasures. It’s the same with every living being due to the pres-
ence of the soul. On this planet, the species in the category of
birds are the most abused and are treated in the most inhuman
ways. Billions of chicken, geese, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, and
others are slaughtered every year to become our dinner. Let’s
have a look at an incident below.
The swallow’s wife is severely injured. She was hit by a car as
she was flying low across the road.

He brought her food, but was shocked to find her dead. He


tried to move her...... but it was too late!

Aware that his mate is dead and will never come back to him again, he cries.
Finally, he stood besides her body with sadness and obvious sorrow.

Many elephants living in conservation centers in Asia love to paint.


Some of these elephants have an amazing control of the paint brush
and they can paint a variety of pictures. These creatures are amaz-
ingly intelligent, and are actually earning their keep with their art-
work.
