2.- To make sudden decisions.
“ - Have you bought the newspaper yet?
- Omg, I forgot. I’ll buy it right now
3.- To make a promise.
I will be there if you need anything
You’ll never stand alone.

USES

1.- To talk about plans and intentions.-

“We are going to take the underground to Piccadilly ”

2.- To talk about future actions which are very likely to happen as there is external evidence
that show it.

Tom is very smart and hard-working. He’s going to get very high marks.

Other tenses with future meaning.
Present Simple.
1.- When we talk about timetables and programmes
“My train leaves at three o’clock tomorrow morning”

2.- When we talk about future actions with time expressions like
after, as, when, as soon as, before, by the time, until.)

“I must get to the bank before it closes”.

Present Continuous.
We use the present continuous when we talk about arrangements.

“We are visiting the Prado Museum tomorrow morning” (I have


already bought the ticket online, for instance)

“They’re spending their honeymoon in Verona next week”

EXERCISE – Present Simple and Present Continuous with future meaning. Translate into
English.
