This is determined by the signal strength, the presence of multipath signals* and the geographic location of the FM station. To get the best from your tuner, use an antenna suited to your location. Dipole antenna with reflector and director has increased sea- sitivity to front signal and reduc: ed sensitivity to rear signals. Multielement type has a nar rower pickup pattern with high frontal sensitivity and superior rejection of rear and multipatn signals, To receive a distant or weak signal station, use this type of antenna. ‘Adjust the antenna as required. FM: Pull out the telescopic antenna and adjust its length, direc tion and angle for the best reception, ‘SW (for ST-78S): Pull out the telescopic antenna to its full length ‘and stand it vertically, MUILW (LW for ST-78L): When the BAND selector is set to MW or LW, the builtin ferrita bar antenna is used instead. This IC puts out the required output signals in tecordance with the switched-in commanding input ignals with predetermined processing timings. This IC consists mainly of the Following six blocks. Input Circuits: The input circuits eliminate chattering of the input signals, determine the priority of input switches and then latch the operational or desired mode. Control Circuits The control circuits generate signals to control the timer operation, automatic musicselection 3. LED-Drive Circuits: This circuits put out the drive signals to LED indicate the mode specified by items 1, 2, 4. Timing Circuits: ‘This circuit makes the switching periods of the output signals in good timings everytime a mode is changed to another one specified by items 1, 2 5. Solenoid and Motor-Drive Output Circuits: These circuits put out signals to operate the mechanism of the deck, The circuits connect to the solenoid-and motor-drive circuits, 6. Muting Signal Output Circuits: These circuits connect to the amplifier circuits for the elimination of noise and selection of FH-7 TC-78 (AMS) operation, automatic operation, reset eee dudiosinal syst (2) FUNCTION OF EACH TERMINAL 7 [oe nck OSC wn untae Cee Benin) o« FASTREVERSE opt 3. | RESET ~~ Signal input ¢o put all of the ‘This terminal becomes in the 4. | FAST REVERSE | Signat input to commande the ayPun, rechanism to FastFoward rode of REVERSE direction 3. | REV Signal input to command the atsPuT) mechanism to playback the tape of REVERSE direction. ‘The terminal evores in AMS operation when this terminal isput into “L" together with © or FAST-REVERSE input simultaneously. setin auto play when this, terminal becomes in“ together with FAST-REVERSE input simultaneously, ‘Signal input to command the ‘mechanism to set in fast forward mode PUT) 6. | STOP Signal input to release a mode axeun designated by other input switches 7.
