SECTION 01 75 16

STARTUP PROCEDURES

PART I – GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

A. Procedural requirements for start-up, testing, adjusting and balancing systems.

1.2 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Other General provisions of the Contract, including any clauses by reference or as


amended in Sections and other Division 01 00 00 sections of these Contract
Specifications apply to requirements of this section; this section in turn applies to
the Contract drawings.

B. Refer to individual technical specification sections of all Divisions for


additional requirements for unique commissioning requirements by the Contractor.

1.3 SCOPE, RESPONSIBILITY, PERFORMANCE

A. Coordinate services with the work of the various trades to ensure rapid completion
of the services.
B. Report any deficiencies noted during performance of services to allow immediate
corrective action.
C. The Contractor is responsible for the detailed project schedule (DPS), work
activity integration and related planning.
D. Establish communication, working procedures for the project.
E. Disseminate to others as required start-up information, performance criteria,
performance measurement data, and operating standards to facilitate full systems
integration.

1.4 JOB CONDITIONS

A. Prior to start of testing, adjusting and balancing, verify required job conditions.
1. Systems installation is complete and in full operation.
2. Conditions are within a reasonable range relative to design conditions.
3. Special equipment such as electronic equipment is in full operation.
B. Verify that special product or equipment requirements for preparation,testing and
balancing have been met for elements of each of the systems that require testing.

1.5 DOCUMENTATION

Procedure for the submittals of shop drawing and documents shall be finalized
with Engineer during start-up.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 MATERIALS, EQUIPMENTS

A. The Contractor is responsible to provide detailed procurement plan of the project


including identifying the long lead items.
B. The Contractor shall submit all relevant documents for the procurement during the
start-up stage.
C. Provide material required to perform start-up of each respective item of equipment
and system prior to beginning of test, adjust and balance procedures.
D. Contractor shall identify all the equipment, components to transfer orderly from the
start-up stage.

2.2 VERIFICATION OF PERFORMANCE

A. Provide an independent certifying association to provide information and


assistance required to adjust and balance system.
B. Ensure during the start-up, design incorporate the concept that the design intent.
C. Acceptance procedure shall incorporate during the start-up stage.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.1 START-UP

A. Start-up completed facility with appropriate personnel present.


B. Perform specified services and if necessary employ and pay for a manufacturer
approved organization to perform specified services.
C. Provide appropriate utilities and instrumentation required for starting, testing,
adjusting and balancing operations.

1. Make instruments available to ENGINEER to facilitate spot checks during


testing.
2. Retain possession of instruments; remove from site at completion of
services.

D. Comply fully with the procedural standards of the certifying association under
whose standards service will be performed.

1. Execute each step of the prescribed procedure without omission.


2. Accurately record the required data.
