CFD Instructional Design - Apr. 30, May 1-2, 2020
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis training aims to provide fundamental knowledge for using CFD in real life
engineering application and analyze general and complex fluid flow and heat transfer problems using general-purpose CFD tool. CFD enables the designers and analysts to reduce
the risks of potential design failures and optimize their engineering design, which can provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The 3day training on CFD covers the basic knowledge and the steps in the CFD analysis process that consists of: 1) geometry modeling, 2) meshing and fluid domain extraction,
3) setting up the boundary and initial conditions, 4) solving of the CFD model and post-processing of the results, and 5) Developing CFD models for turbulent flow, multispecies
flow and fluid-structure interaction applications. The course also provides the benefits and challenges in using CFD analysis in understanding of complicated flow phenomena and
its use in the design process.
At the end of the training, the participants would have gained a solid foundation of practical CFD analysis, familiarity of effectively building a CFD simulation model, analyze it
and interpret the results, which will be achieved through lectures, workshops and exercises.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The course is intended for mechanical engineers and managers who are interested or considering adopting the use of CFD in their design practices,
or mechanical engineers who are interested to gain skills for a successful CFD simulation in their professional career.
ENTRY COMPETENCIES OF PARTICIPANTS: This course is aimed at practicing engineers who wish to learn more about how to apply computational fluid analysis
techniques to their particular problems in the most effective manner. This course is also very useful for managers (in many cases needing to refresh their knowledge) who review
CFD reports and contract suppliers. This course is a must for all engineers aiming to use CFD to optimize design of mechanical engineering systems that requires fluid flow and
heat transfer analyses.
