My Philosophy of Beauty
What makes a person beautiful? Beauty is not just about the symmetry of your
face, your age, color, race, bone structure, gender, body shape, or weight and it is
also not defined by what you see in the media or by trends.
We all have different definitions and perception of beauty. In my perspective,
beauty is the acceptance of yourself. It is to realize that everything about you is
what makes you, you. Beauty is a radiance of spirit, having character, kindness
towards yourself and to others, and self-confidence to know that with or without
make-up you are still beautiful. Part of it also has to be about the things that make
you feel beautiful. For me, whether you’re just home in your most comfortable
pyjamas and shirt with your hair up in a bun minus the make-up or wearing an
amazing outfit combined with make-up, you are still beautiful. I believe that
beauty comes from within- you are beauty and beauty is you. You are a
masterpiece- a work of art created by God. There is only one you and there will be
no other. Beauty starts with appreciating yourself as you do to art or nature. You
don’t have to judge it, instead you simply accept and appreciate what you have.
Look carefully at yourself in the mirror and embrace and accept your flaws. Take a
final look, a real hard look and tell yourself that you are a creation of God, you are
His most beautiful creation.
The Metacognitive Awareness Inventory is an instrument designed to assess general self-
regulated learning skills across the disciplines. Based on the result of my MAI, I strongly agree
with it. I know I’m still lacking in a lot of areas but at least I am mindful of what I am doing.
We all have our own secrets for studying. Here are my top five tips in studying based from my
experiences:
Tip #1: Take regular breaks. Have a 10-20 minutes break after studying for an hour.
Tip #2: Eat chocolates, tuna with DHA, and drink plenty water. Keep your body and brain well-
fueled by choosing nutritious foods that have been proven to aid concentration and memory
Tip #3: Read your notes out loud or simply read it over and over. You’re more like to remember
what you’re studying if you do it this way.
Tip #4: Turn your phone off.
Tip #5: Explain your answers to others. This will help you to get it clear in your head, and also to
highlight any areas where you need more work.
