COURSE GOALS/OBJECTIVES
1 Apply concepts, theories and principles of sciences and humanities in the formulation and application of
appropriate nursing care during childbearing and childrearing years.
2 Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals, families and population groups utilizing the
nursing process during childbearing and childrearing years.
3 Apply evidence-based nursing practices in the care of mother and child.
4 Practice maternal and child nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical and moral principles.
5 Communicate effectively in speaking, writing, and presenting using culturally appropriate language with
children and families.
6 Document care ofrisk/ high-risk/sick mother and child during the perinatal period accurately and
comprehensively.
7 Work effectively in collaboration with inter-,intra, and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams in the
care of at risk/ high risk/ sick Mother and Child.
8 Practice beginning management and leadership skills using systems approach in the care of high-risk
mother and child.
9 Participate in conducting research on at risk/ high risk/ sick mother and child.
10 Engage in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current with national and global development in the care

COURSE POLICIES:
A Class Attendance and Participation.
1 All students are expected to log in their Microsoft Teams Account NCM 109 Care of Mother and
Child at Risk or With Problem Class where their study guides, modules and activities are posted for
each week.
2 Students are expected to participate in all online activities as listed on the course outline.
B Quizzes and Examinations. Assignments, modules and study guides are to be submitted online by the
given deadline or a special permission must be requested from instructor before the due date.
Extensions will not be given beyond the next assignment except under extreme circumstances.
Preliminary, Midterm, Pre-final and Final exam shall be given as scheduled provided that students were
able to secure a permit.
C Written Reports. All students are expected to give written reports in class on a certain topic assigned
by the instructor.
