Assessment Category: Assessment Title: Course Title: Semester: Course Code: Session: Instructor: Date Total Time Instructions

This document outlines the instructions and questions for a final term lab assessment in a Digital Signal Processing course, requiring students to write MATLAB code and provide output graphs to analyze signals in the time and frequency domains, implement filters and differential equations, and explain the benefits of the fast Fourier transform algorithm. Students are instructed to avoid plagiarism and submit their solved paper and MATLAB output graphs by a specified due date to the provided email address.

Q. No Statement Marks CLO PLO

1. Display Fourier transforms to find the frequency components 5 CLO5 P5
of a signal buried in noise. Plot the original signal and noisy
signal in time domain. Also take Fourier transform of original
signal and compare with the Fourier transform of noisy signal.
Plot all these graphs on MATLAB window.
2. Construct MATLAB code to Compare three cosine waves in 5 CLO5 P5
the time domain and the frequency domain. Take first wave
frequency of 50, the second wave frequency of 150, and the
third wave frequency of 300.
Show graphs of all three waves in time domain and frequency
domain.
3. Why we use Fast Fourier transform? Explain how fast Fourier 5 CLO5 P5
transform is beneficial to calculate convolution sum and
Fourier transform.
Construct MATLAB code to calculate linear convolution by
using Fast Fourier transform algorithm. Sketch output graphs
4. Sketch the all types of responses of IIR (Butterworth and 5 CLO5 P5
Chebyshev) and FIR (Butterworth and Chebyshev) filters by
using FDAtool. Show the screen shorts of GUI of FDAtool.
5. Construct MATLAB code to implement first order, second 5 CLO5 P5
order and third order differential equations.
