“Tungkung Langit and Alunsina”: Love, Trust, Anger and Regret

Characteristics
TungkungLangit- industrious, loving, kind god
Alunsina- lazy, jealous, selfish god

Plot
In the beginning, there were two gods:
Tungkung Langit and Alunsina. These gods
were in love and they were married. While
Tungkung Langit was away for his job, Alunsina
was only idle, used all her time to beautify her
hair and appearance and doubted Tungkung
Langit’s faith in love.
She started getting jealous and sent
some breeze to spy on TungkungLangit.
TungkungLangitfound out, confronted Alunsina
and sent her away. After the gods quarrel,
Alunsina ran away from her beloved partner
and never came back. She vanished forever.
TungkungLangit terribly missed her and
became depressed. He looked for Alunsina but
he just got upset every time he tried to find her.
Because of this, he made wonderful seas, the earth, flowers and trees to attract Alunsina.
TungkungLangit thought he would make Alunsina come home but she didn’t.
TungkungLangit then used Alunsina’s jewels to add stars in the skies and lastly her
favorite comb as the moon to add the brightest light in the night sky. Up to now, whenever
TungkungLangit thinks about and years for Alunsina the god cries thus it rains.

Alunsina was a jealous Goddes and because she was jealous she sents the sea breeze
to spy on Tungkung Langit.

Theme
In this literary piece, we learned that in the name of love we should learn to trust. Think
before you speak, someone might get hurt by the words you deliver.
Don’t easily judge someone if you don’t know the whole story and don’t make such
decisions that you can’t do.

Analysis

This story teaches us that jealousy can destroy the relationship of two people

even how much they love each other. This story is not only suitable for couples but also

for sisters, brothers, and others who have a relationship with someone. If we will not

control our emotions, our jealousy to others might move us to do things that would

cause harm to that person or even to ourselves. It can also lead us to make decisions

that we might regret in our entire life. This story teaches us to be careful in every action

that we will take because we can’t change what we have already done. It’s difficult to

take away the pain that we caused to someone. In the vice versa, we should trust our

love ones. If we really love them, we can trust them with all of our heart. Trust is the

most needed factor to lengthen your relationship with someone else. In long distance

relationship, trust is very important to sustain your relationship. Even how much you

love that person if you don’t have trust doesn’t hope that your relationship will last.
