This document provides instructions for removing and installing cylinder head valves and valve stem seals on an engine: 1. To remove the valves, use a valve spring compressor to release the collets, then remove the collets, spring cap, spring(s), stem seal, thrust washer, and valve. 2. To install, apply molybdenum grease to the valve stem and install the thrust washer. Fit the stem seal over the stem using a tool to fully seat it. The seal will feel two levels of resistance as it seats correctly. 3. Reinstall the removed parts in reverse order. Press down the seal until it locates over the valve guide face and cannot be pressed

3 CYLINDER HEAD & CAMSHAFT

Removal from the cy:inder head

1. Remove each valve from the head using a valve


spring compressor. The compressor must act on
the top cup to allow removal of the valve collets.

2. Once the collets are released, remove the following


items:
• collets
• valve spring cap
• valve spring(s)
• valve stem seal
• thrust washer
• valve (de-burr before removal)
