This document provides instructions for removing and installing cylinder head valves and valve stem seals on an engine: 1. To remove the valves, use a valve spring compressor to release the collets, then remove the collets, spring cap, spring(s), stem seal, thrust washer, and valve. 2. 3 CYLINDER HEAD & CAMSHAFT

49. Fit the exhaust system as described in the fuel VALVES AND VALVE STEM SEALS
section.
Removal from the cy:inder head

1. Remove each valve from the head using a valve


spring compressor. The compressor must act on
the top cup to allow removal of the valve collets.

2. Once the collets are released, remove the following


items:
• collets
• valve spring cap
• valve spring(s)
• valve stem seal
• thrust washer
• valve (de-burr before removal)
