Upper Limb: Handout Version

This document provides information about the bones and joints of the upper limb, including the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. It contains x-rays and diagrams labeled with the key bones and joints. The document discusses bone structures like trabeculae, the differences between long and flat bones. It also covers topics like bone growth, the bones and joints of individual fingers, carpal bones, flexion/extension of the wrist, anatomical snuff box, and the bones and joints of the forearm and elbow.

Right humerus (Saladin Fig 8.3) Revision

The distal end of the humerus has two smoth condyles. The lateral one
called capitulum …. The medial one called trochlea…. Immediately proximal
to these condyles, the humerus flares out to form two bony processes, the
lateral and medial epicondyle. …. Immediately proximal to the epicondyles,
the margins of the humerus are sharply angular and form the lateral and
medial supracondylar ridges.

31
Left elbow (Image Bank)

trochlea

• The medial part of the trochlea is more prominent than the lateral part
• The medial epicondyle is more prominent than the lateral epicondyle.
• The olecranon fossa is deeper than the radial & coronoid fossae.
