The School of Criminology aims to:


 Produce competent graduates who can lead the nation in addressing vital problems of crime control and meet the demands of the times and continuously value selfless service to
humanity.
 Form professionally competent, morally upright, self-disciplined criminologists with social conscience who can deliver efficient and effective services to the community for nation
building.
 Prepare critical, independent minded and research-oriented individuals with a sense of mission for integral evangelization.
Course Name Fundamentals of criminal investigation (CDI1)
Course Credits 3 units
Course Description This course deals with the concepts and principles of Criminal Investigation which involves arrest, searches and seizure and the rights of the accused during custodial
investigation. This also includes the modern techniques in processing the crime scene. This also include the study on the Military and Police Intelligence, types of
intelligence, phases of intelligence cycle; modus operandi (MO) and order of battle regulations (OBR) system for the identification of criminals and other threats to
national security.

Course Outcomes At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Understand and apply the knowledge on RA 7438, RA 9745 and Art. III, Bill of Rights of the 1987 Phil. Constitution and UN Convention on Human Rights
in the course of investigation;
2. Exemplify and implement the appropriate laws pertaining to the welfare and protection of the victims;
3. Classify and demonstrate the Basic Concepts and Principles of Criminal Investigation;
4. Describe and apply the Basic Concepts and Principles of Police Intelligence;
5. Identify and demonstrate the appropriate Field of Forensic Science or Criminalistics applicable in the achievement of the Three Fold Aims of investigation;
6. Explore and apply the knowledge on the use of different equipment and techniques for Intelligence Operations;
7. Understand and use the principles of Criminal Law, Rules on Criminal Evidence, Rules on Criminal Procedure, and related special laws in the course of
investigation;

Grading System The minimum requirement for a passing grade is 75 % as reflected in the grading system of the institution composed of the following:
Written works/Quizzes 30%
Performance task 30%
Major Examination 40%
Total 100%
Midterm/Finals Grade computed midterm grade/final grade multiplied by 2 + prelim grade/midterm grade = midterm/final grade
Classroom Policies 1. The class stars and ends with a prayer to be led by assigned student. It is expected that the assigned student prepares short personal prayer.
2. Students attend class regularly at the prescribed time. Policy on attendance should be followed;
3. Active participation in the discussion and other works assigned to the class;
4. Students should attend to the class ready for exams, reports, assignments and projects;
5. Students can use their cell phone and gadgets for academic purposes only;
6. Take examination on scheduled dates;
7. Use the prescribed uniform;
8. Special examination is only given to students who can present excused letters signed by their parents and with valid reasons. Secure special permit in the
treasurer’s office.

Academic Honesty:
Honesty is expected from the students. Unethical behaviours (immortality, lying, undesirable actuations) are discouraged. Any students caught cheating
during examination or engaged in plagiarism in submitting. Requirements shall be given the grade of F which means falling in the requirement or course. Or
asking help from others during examination, assignment report or research; owning works of others, and other works that show scholastic dishonesty.
Policies On Absences:
Students are only allowed 10 absences for Classes of three hours (MWF) while 7 absences for TTh Classes.
Students are asked to present an excuse letter before he/she could be accepted in class. Special exams are only allowed to students with valid reason. Like
prolonged sickness. It is the responsibility of the student to monitor his/her tardiness and absences which can be a reason for a grade of “FA” it is also the
responsibility of the student to consult his or her teacher. Academic coordinator or Dean For extra-ordinary Cases.
