1.1.GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Oromia Regional State has allocated sufficient budget for the Construction and
Construction Supervision and Contract Administration of Bodache River Bridge under URRAP
LOT I River Bridge & Approach Road Project.
Bodocha River Bridge and Approach road Project: is located in Jimma zone Segimo Woreda of
Oromia Regional state at geographical location of (869149.244) Northing and (173295.783)
Easting. The project site can be reached after driving about 351Km from Finfinne across
Finfinne –Jimma main road and drive about 129 km from Jimma across Jimma- Bedele road to
Segimo town and then 15 km driving from the Segimo town to the project site.
The project involves the construction of 24m span length bridge and 1.5 Km. Approach Road
project the crossing structure & approach road will have a great impact in enhancing social and
economic activities of the local population. The main economic activity of the population is
agriculture; both crop production and animal husbandry activity predominantly prevail in all
parts of the project areas with high degree of productivity. But the community, and land use
study teams are suffering due to lack of access of transportation so that this area is proposed for
investment that the Regional Government of Oromia represented by Oromia Rode Authority
(ORA), recognizing the urgent need of enhancing agricultural and other used areas accessed for
transportation, need the design of the bridge to be under the plans of the proposed road
projects.
According to the urgent need of the road of the Regional Government, to support farmers to
supply agricultural products for market, get public service and to open the area for investment,
has decided to intervene in the design of the project that project that upon provision of the
performance guarantee in accordance with the requirement of the condition of contract for the
consulting services for the Detailed Engineering Design and supervision on Bridge design on
sigmo woreda.
2. SUMMARY OF REPORT
2.1.A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE
REPORTING MONTH
This report summarized the overall project status and activities carried out for
Jan./31/2021 G.C to Feb. / 28 /2021 G.C

2.2.A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS PLAN & ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE
REPORTING MONTH
As shown on table 2.2.1 the contractor work accomplishment is 63.77% of work plan this
reporting month the contractor still in progress the construction work on this month was form
work of bridge slab so it’s needs concentration so take a time and affecting the progress.
For the purpose of this project, the supervision staff shall consider quality as the process as well
as the end product of the works to achieve the desired function it includes but not limited to
strength, durability, serviceability and maintainability, the Technical Specification and the
Engineering Drawings.
For this reporting there is problem on the quality of the work and also there is no any action on
the quality of the project work.
2.5.1. VARIATIONS:
There was no any variation on this reporting month.
2.5.2. CLAIMS:
As referred letter for the contractor on date Dec. / 02 / 2020 G.c& Ref. No
WAMW/SCRP/541/20; the contractors claim on extension of time (EOT) for the risen on the
suspended of project work until the new design received on March / 09 /2020 after commenced
of the project in addition to this the additional work on the approaches road way also need
additional working time. Consulting firm also wrote a letter to the contractor on day Dec. / 02
/2020 G.c Ref. No: PES /URRAPBP/LI/NRE/001/20 to submit with full of justifiable claim list
with a tabulated for the ease of neatly identify its correctness but still now not submitted his
justifiable claim reason.
In Accordance with Sub-Clause 58.1 of the General Conditions of Contract, the Contractor is
required to provide a security for his proper performance of the contract to the Employer
within 15 days of signing of the Contract. The performance security shall be in the form of a
bank/insurance guarantee/bond amounting 10% of the contract price but the contractor
performance bond was expired b/c this the consulting firm ordered to the contractor to
renewed the performance bond and now the contractor renewed the performance from
Oromia insurance company.

The contractor has renewed the remaining advance payment guarantee in the form of
unconditional bank guarantee from Oromia insurance company.

The project area annually rainy season area but there is no rain on the project on this reporting
month.
2.8.SITE VISIT
Staff using the main project personnel (who will either permanently reside at site or who will
work intermittently), but the main staff of the such as the resident engineer (R.E) site visit on
day Feb. / 16 / 2021.
2.9.PAYMENT STATUS
The contractor has renewed the remaining advance payment guarantee in the form of
unconditional bank guarantee from Oromia insurance company accordingly; advance payment
amount Birr 2,613,035.85 (Excluding VAT) has been directly paid in cash to the Contractor.
The Contractor will start to repay the advance repayment starting from the first installment and
ends before the payment reached 80%.
