Hardware Description 27 Auxiliary Board

27 Auxiliary Board

The OptiX OSN supports the auxiliary boards AUX.

27.1 TNF1AUX
The AUX is an auxiliary interface board that provides one 64 kbit/s synchronous
transparent data port or one 19.2 kbit/s asynchronous transparent data port, one
orderwire phone port and alarm input/output ports.

27.1 TNF1AUX
The AUX is an auxiliary interface board that provides one 64 kbit/s synchronous
transparent data port or one 19.2 kbit/s asynchronous transparent data port, one
orderwire phone port and alarm input/output ports.

27.1.1 Version Description

The functional version of the AUX is TNF1.

Version
The following provides the board(s) supported by the device. However, the
availability of the board(s) is subject to PCNs. For PCN information, contact the

27.1.3 Functions and Features

The AUX provides auxiliary ports such as external clock ports and alarm input/
output ports.
Table 27-2 lists the functions and features that the AUX supports.

Synchronous/Asynchronous Not supported.

transparent data port

External clock port For TNF1AUX:

● Uses one RJ45 port providing two
BITS clock inputs and two clock
outputs. The port impedance is 120
ohm.
● The two clock inputs can use
independent clock sources but the
two clock outputs must use the
same clock source. A site can use
only one clock source at a time.
NOTE
When the board is installed in an 1800 V
Pro subrack, it supports only clock output,
but does not support clock input.

External time port The TNF1AUX board provides two

external clock input/output ports with
TOD0 and TOD1 ports.

Housekeeping alarm input/output Provides alarm ports with six inputs

ports and two outputs.

Outdoor cabinet monitoring port Supported.

Orderwire phone port Provides one orderwire phone port so

that operation/maintenance engineers
at different workstations can have
voice communication with each other.
NOTE
Orderwire call is supported only when the
board is installed in an 1800 V (only when
working with Z-Series) subrack.

27.1.4 Working Principle and Signal Flow

This topic describes the working principle and signal flow of the AUX.

Functional Block Diagram

Figure 27-1 Functional block diagram of the TNF1AUX

Power Supply Unit

● Receives the +3.3 V power supply from the backplane and supplies it to the
other units on the AUX.
● Receives and shuts down control signals.

Port Unit
● Provides one orderwire phone port.
● Provides 6-input/2-output alarm ports.
● The TNF1AUX provides a two-channel external clock/time ports.

Logic Control Unit

● Provides an interface with the CPU unit and works with the CPU unit to
control the board.
● Processes orderwire bytes and overhead bytes.
● Processes clock signals.
● Provides board status information.
● Checks the status of the active and standby system control, switching, and
timing boards.
● Checks the status of the active and standby clocks.
● Switches system clock reference sources automatically or by running specific
commands.

OptiX OSN 1800
Hardware Description 27 Auxiliary Board

● Detects and reports the status of the key clock for each board in the system.
● Detects the presence of the key clock for each board in the system and
reports specific alarms if any key clock is found lost.

Board Status Detection Unit

● Detects board performance data such as board temperature and voltage.
● Controls power-off.
● Stores and reads board manufacturing information.

Clock Unit
● Provides clock signals to the logic control unit.

27.1.5 Front Panel

There are indicators and ports on the front panel.
