At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

Teacher will show some pictures related to the topic.

3. Activity
a. List down ten words that come to your mind when you hear the phrase “mental health”.

b. Share it with their classmates and the teacher will ask the students why they come up
with the words they have listed. Find the common terms they all used.
4. Analysis
a. What do you know about mental and well-being?
b. How does a healthy self- concept or self- identity influence or affect one’s mental
health?
5. Abstraction
 Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well -being. It
affects how we think, feel and act as we cope up with life.
 Mental health as successful performance of mental function, resulting in
productive activities, fulfilling relationships with other people and the ability to
change and to cope with adversity.
 According to WHO used concept of mental health and the six areas that
constitute the following:
a. Subjective well-being
b. Perceived self -efficacy
c. Autonomy
d. Competence
e. Intergenerational independence
f. Self-actualization of one’s intellectual and emotional potential.
6. Application
The teacher will let the students watch a video presentation.
7. Evaluation
Short quiz will be given.
8. Assignment
Give a situation on how are you are going to apply the six factors according to WHO in
your personal life and identify which of the six factors are strongest and which ones you
need to develop.

b. give at least three ways of having healthy self-concept at the core of mental health
and well-being as an individual.

 Let them answer the question , Why Are Self-Esteem and Body Image Important?
 They will be given 10 minutes to answer and present it in front the class.
c. Analysis
a. What personal difficulties or vulnerabilities are you experiencing now as an
adolescent?
b. How does a healthy self- concept or self- identity influence or affect one’s mental
health?
d. Abstraction
 Self-esteem is all about how much you feel you are worth — and how much you
feel other people value you. Self-esteem is important because feeling good
about yourself can affect your mental health and how you behave.
 People with high self-esteem know themselves well. They're realistic and find
friends that like and appreciate them for who they are. People with high self-
esteem usually feel more in control of their lives and know their own strengths
and weaknesses.
 Body image is how you view your physical self — including whether you feel you
are attractive and whether others like your looks. For many people, especially
people in their early teens, body image can be closely linked to self-esteem.
e. Application
 Ask the learners to identify on ways to maintain or develop good physical health
and how they will apply in their daily basis.
f. Evaluation
 Short quiz.
g. Assignment
 Make a mind map or create a plan on how to stay mentally healthy during
adolescence.

 By group, the teacher will give a flash cards on how what they are going to do.
 They will be given 10 minutes to discuss and 3 minutes to present in front of the
class.
b. Analysis
a. What are ways to achieve psychological well-being?
b. How to develop and plan to stay mentally during adolescence?

Abstraction
 A healthy self-concept plus a healthy mind and body are ones guarantee to
goof mental health. When all these elements are in balance, then general well-
being is experienced.
 Developing one’s good mental health and well-being is very important to the
adolescent because this serves as a strong foundation toward a happy and
healthy adulthood.
 Here are some strategies for supporting someone with mental health
concerns:
 Encourage the person to seek help and support from an adult.
 Spend time with the person, listen to his/her concerns.
 Be hopeful; help them feel like their life will get better.
 Stand by them. Invite your friend to things that you are doing; keeping busy
and staying in touch with friends will help your friend feel better, when they
are ready.
 Learn as much as you can about mental illness so that you understand what is
going on for them.
 If you are a close friend or family member of someone with a mental health
problem, make sure that you get help as well. Talk to someone about what is
happening. This will help you be a better support person.
 Put the person’s life before your friendship. If the person mentions thoughts of
suicide, don’t keep it secret, even if the person has asked you to.
E. Application
 Create a mind map on how you can achieve and maintain your good mental
health and well-being. From this map, create a plan the five steps in developing
a positive mental health.
F. Evaluation
 Short quiz
G. Assignment
 Research an organization who can reach out or help you achieve to maintain a
healthy mind.
