Reporting Service Extension

A. Setting Business Connector Account

Open Dynamics AX Client, navigate to System Administration > Setup > System > System
service account.

Enter following information on system service accounts form.

Business connector proxy

Alias: Axapta
Network domain: siloamhospitals.com

Click OK to save and close the form.

B. Configure SQL Reporting Services

Before going through this stage, check if SQL Reporting Services already installed on server
[HO-AXSVRSSRS-01].

To check if SQL Reporting Services is installed on specified server, go to Administration

Tools > Services and look for entry named SQL Server Reporting Services
(MSSQLSERVER). Verify that service is running.

Refer to Install SQL Server 2012 from the Installation Wizard (Setup) document on how to
install SQL Reporting Services on server.

Steps to configure SQL Reporting Service:

1. Log in to server HO-AXSVRSSRS-01. Open Reporting Service Configuration

Manager from Start > All Program.
On server name enter HO-AXSVRSSRS-01, click Find. The default instance will appear
on Report Server Instance. Verify that MSSQLSERVER is selected. Click Connect to
continue.

2. On tab Service Account, select Use another account as Report Server Service
Account.
Enter business connector account information (see Section A) and the password for
user SILOAMHOSPITALS\axapta. Click Apply before moving on to other tab.

3. On tab Execution Account, select Specify an execution account and again, enter
business connector account information (see Section A). Reenter password on Confirm
Password. Click Apply.

4. Restart SQL Server Reporting Services service to reflect the changes.

C. Install Reporting Service Extension

Installation of reporting service extension is performed on server [HO-AXSVRSSRS-01].

1. Run AX installation setup file to start installation process. Proceed the installation until
prompted with Add or modify component windows. Click on check box beside Reporting
Services extension option. In the message box that appears next, click OK.

Configure.

Click Start on Configuring prerequisites windows. Setup will configure the required prerequisites.
When configuring process is finished, Close button will be activated. Click Close.

3. On Connect to an AOS instance, change AOS name to [HO-AXSVRAPP-01] as this is the

name of application server on SILOAM environment. Leave Instance name as blank, and
accept the default value on TCP/IP port and Service WSDL. Click Next.

4. Enter business connector proxy account information according to setup that was done earlier
on Ax application (see Section A). Click Next.

5. On Instance name select MSSQLServer. Remove selection on Deploy element. We won’t

want to deploy report at this moment since deploying will be performed later after all
configuring steps are completed. Click Next to continue.

6. On Connect to a SQL Server Database, select [HO-AXSVRDB-01] on Server name and

select MicrosoftDynamicsAX on Database name. Click Next.

7. Click Next on Prerequisite Validation.

8. On Ready to Install click Install to start installation process.
9. When installation complete click Finish to close the wizard.

D. Setting AX Reporting Services Parameter

Open Dynamics AX client and navigate to System Administration > Setup > Business
Intelligence > Reporting Services > Report Servers. Enter Configuration ID with HO-
AXSVRAPP-01. Select Default configuration.

On Reporting Server information tab fill Server name with HO-AXSVRSSRS-01. Fill Server
instance name with MSSQLSERVER. On Reporting Server URLS fill Report Manager URL
with http://ho-axsvrssrs-01:88/Reports, Web service URL with http://ho-axsvrssrs-
01:88/ReportServer. Enter DynamicsAX on Microsoft Dynamics AX report folder and finally
select 01@HO-AXSVRAPP-01 from list on Application Object Server name.

Click Create report folder. Wait until confirmation message appears. Click Validate settings,
verify that validation is completed successfully. Click Close.

E. Deploy AX SSRS Reports

1. Log on to server HO-AXSVRSSRS-01. Go to Control Panel > System and Security >
Administrative Tools > Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Management Shell. Right click
on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Management Shell and choose Run as administrator.

2. Type following command on management shell window: Publish-AXReport –

ReportName * Press Enter. Wait until all reports has been deployed. This process could
take between 30 minutes – 2 hours to complete. Close the window when deployment
completed notification has appear. You can now view the reports on AX Client.

Data Import/Export Framework

A. Install Data Import/Export Framework Service

1. Log on to server HO-AXSVRDB-01. Verify that SQL Server Integration
Services is installed on the server.

To check if SQL Server Integration Services is installed on specified server, go to

Administration Tools > Services and look for entry named SQL Server Integration
Services 11.0. Verify that the service is running.

Refer to Install SQL Server 2012 from the Installation Wizard (Setup) document on how to
install SQL Server Integration Services on database server.

2. Run Dynamics AX Installation wizard. Proceed through the installation wizard until
prompted with Add or modify components window below. Choose Data Import/Export
Framework (DIF) service. Click Next.

3. Enter business connector account information as DIF service account. On Domain\User

name enter SILOAMHOSPITALS\Axapta. Enter the password of the user and click Next
to continue.

4. When installing process is completed, click Finish to close. From Start go to

Administrative Tools > Service. Verify that a new service called Microsoft Dynamics AX
Data Import/Export Framework Service is created.

B. Install AOS Component and Client Component

1. Log on to server HO-AXSVRAPP-01, run Dynamics AX Installation wizard. Proceed
through installation wizard and continue until prompted with this window below. Select
AOS Component and Client Component under Data Import/Export Framework
components. Click Next.

3. After installation of Data Import/Export Framework – AOS Component, AOS service must
be restarted. To restart AOS Service, log on to server HO-AXSVAPP-01. Navigate to
Administrative Tools > Services. Find service named Microsoft Dynamics AX Object
Server 6.3$01-SILOAM2012_PROD. Click Restart the service.

Data Import/Export Framework – AOS Component has to be installed only on server

computer running AOS service.

Data Import/Export Framework – Client Component has to be installed on every client

computer that want to use Data Import/Export Framework module functionality.

4. Open AX Client navigate to Data Import Export Framework > Setup > Data
import/export framework parameters. On Shared working directory enter network path
of a shared folder located on server HO-AXSVRDB-01. Click Validate. Make sure that a
green icon is appear before closing this window.
