Welcome to the Empowerment Technology for Grade 11 Alternative Delivery Mode
(ADM) Module on Interpret Website Data Analytics.
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators from
public institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their
needs and circumstances.

what can be improved to your website. A thing that you have to remember though is the
fact that the website analytics is just one part of the much larger digital communication
field.

This module will help you understand how the background of the research study will
help establish the clarity and success of your research undertaking.

In the digital world, almost everything can be tracked. To see the data and interpret it,
you need to use web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Hubspot analytics etc.

What is It

WEBSITE MANAGEMENT

A website management platform is an integrated set of tools and services that allow teams to
create, design, develop, launch, manage, administer, and monitor website contents. Web
building involves web management, navigation support, homepage contents, content writing,
and design for multimedia.

TRACTION TOOLS

1. LinkedIn – a business-oriented social networking service.


2. Google Adwords – is an online advertising service that enables advertisers to compete
to display brief advertising copy to web users.
3. Reddit – allows you to gather feedback and advice.
4. Facebook Ads – is an ad network platform to test and validate ideas.

Types of traffic

1. Direct Traffic – Visitors who typed your URL, navigated via their bookmarks or any
other non-referral way of getting to your site.
2. Referring sites / referral – are other sites who direct traffic to you. This can be by
means of banners, weblogs, textlinkts etc.
3. Search engines – all traffic that came in through a search engine. Organic as well as
paid search (adwordse e.g.) are included
4. Keywords – Which ‘search queries’ were used to get to your site via a search engine.
Important terms:

1. Sessions - number of site-sessions on your site


2. Bounce Rate - percentage of visitors that has left the site immediately after viewing the
first page
3. Pages views - number of pages that has been requested in the specified period
4. Pages/Session - average number of page views per visit
5. Avg. Session Duration - How long did your visitors stay on this page?
6. % New Sessions - how many first time visitors

Web analytics is a way of collecting and analyzing what’s happening on your website, covering
everything from what your visitors are doing, where they come from, what content they like, and
a whole lot more.

By using a web analytics tool to collect data, you’ll be able to know what is and isn’t working,
and then steer your website in the right direction.

Web Analytics Best Practices

● Encourage a data-driven environment for decision making.


● Avoid only providing traffic reports.
● Always provide insights with the data.
● Avoid being snapshot-focused in reporting.

Seven Step Process for Effective Web Analytics

Focus with these 7 key steps:

1. Target. Define your most important goals and those of your most important Web visitors.
2. Assess. Analyze Web traffic data to uncover what’s happening on your Web site. Identify
gaps.
3. Focus. Define the gap you need to close.
4. Plan. Map out a plan to close the gap and measure progress.
5. Act. Execute the plan
6. Measure. Gauge success using Web analytics.
7. Refine. Don’t stop now! Raise the bar, set new goals, keep climbing.
