Design of Steel StairCase.

This document provides design calculations for a stringer beam for a staircase. It calculates the effective span, uniform distributed load, bending moment, required section modulus, and deflection of the beam. The beam is designed to support a uniform distributed load of 4.38 kN/m while meeting the permissible deflection of 250 mm and having an adequate section modulus. The ISMC 250 steel section is determined to meet both requirements.

DESIGN OF STRINGER BEAM FOR STAIRCASE

Permissible deflection = 250

denominator
Modulus of elasticity of steel E = 2E+08 KN/m2

Span 7.89 m
Effective length factor 1.00 m
Effective Span l = 7.89 m
Width of stair case = 1.20 m
Minimum width of treads = 0.25 m
Maximum height of riser = 0.18 m
Diagonal length of stair flight (0.25^2+0.18^2)^0.5 = 0.308 m
per stepratio - Diagonal
Hence, 0.31/0.25 = 1.23

Self weight = 0.304 KN/m
Section modulus Z = 0.0003053 m3

Permissible stress in s bc (0.66X250) = 158400 KN/m2

Hence, - assumed
DL + LL 1.5+5 = 6.50 KN/m2
DL+ LL on each stringer 6.5*1.2/2 = 3.25 KN/m
Self weight of each stringer = 0.304 KN/m
Total UDL 3.25+0.3 = 3.554 KN/m
Design UDL after adjusting 3.55*1.23 = 4.38 KN/m
