LOGIQ P6 QUICKSTARTS

Beginning an Exam

1. Press the PATIENT button – If you get an operator Logon screen, leave
password blank and click OK. Use the Set button as your Enter button, then:
a. Choose one of the following options:
i. NEW Patient – Creates a new patient, allowing you to enter in
the patient information. You must enter at least a Patient ID
number. It is an alpha-numeric field. Put the client’s name in
the Last Name Field, and the animal’s name in the First Name
Field. Click on Exit on the lower left side of the screen or press
the B Mode button to go to a scan screen.
ii. Or choose a previously scanned patient from the Patient View
screen, and then choose NEW Exam or REVIEW below.

2. Press Probe/Preset key button.


a. Choose the appropriate Probe, then the appropriate Application, then
the appropriate Preset with the cursor arrow and Set button. Click on
Exit if you do not get redirected to scanning mode.

Image Optimization

1. A menu for optimizing each scanning mode is located on the bottom of the
screen.
a. Use the 5 corresponding knobs below the monitor to adjust the options
highlighted in light grey.
b. To activate the other option, press the knob under the corresponding
function.
c. This is where you will change parameters such as FREQUENCY, FOCUS
POSITION, DYNAMIC RANGE and GREY MAP.
d. These options change with each scanning mode and when an image is
frozen.

2. Keyboard functions
a. AUTO – optimizes the image once the probe is on the patient.
b. GAIN and TGC – adjusts brightness and darkness of image
i. Overall – GAIN dial at bottom left of console.
ii. At different depths – the TGC sliders to left of keyboard.
c. DEPTH – increase or decrease the depth shown on the screen.
d. B – B mode – the usual scan mode.
e. M – M mode – single scan line spread out over time.
f. PW – Pulsed Wave Doppler – velocity of blood flow at a single point.
g. CF – Color Flow Doppler – relative velocity and direction of blood flow.
h. CINE mode – using the FREEZE button will activate CINE mode. The
last 19.9 seconds of scan frames are temporarily stored. Use the
trackball to look at them. Press FREEZE again to return to live
scanning.
3. 4 Arrow Pad – the up, down, left and right arrows located above knobs 4 and
5.
a. These keys allow for more fine tuning of the image
i. Use the up and down keys to choose the option
ii. Use the left and right keys to change the value
b. The left and right keys also toggle between the mode-menus in #1.

4. COMMENTS - There are two ways to put comments onto the screen. First
press COMMENT, then
a. Begin typing the comment, then move it to the desired location and
press SET.
b. Use the cursor to choose a label from the list on the left by pressing
SET. Move the label to the desired location and press SET.
c. Clear comments with the CLEAR button to the left of trackball.
d. The arrow can be displayed by pressing the Arrow button on the top
left of the keypad. Press F2 and Clear to erase an arrow.

5. 2-D MEASUREMENTS
a. Press Measure key once for a distance measurement. Set first point,
trackball to second point, then Set.
b. Press Measure key twice for an area trace. Set first point, outline the
object with the trackball, then press Set to complete the tracing.

6. CARDIAC MEASUREMENTS
a. M-Mode
i. Obtain a frozen M-MODE image
ii. Press Measure
iii. From the menu on the left side of the screen choose the desired
measurement
1. LEFT VENTRICLE – choose RV/LV, then LV STUDY. Set
cursors at appropriate locations in diastole then systole.
2. LA/AO - choose LA/AO. Set cursors at appropriate
locations. Ignore the AV cusp measurement if prompted.
b. 2D
i. Obtain a cine loop using freeze, or a video clip using P1.
ii. Trackball to diastole, press Measure.
iii. From the menu on the left side of the screen choose RV/LV,
then LVd. Set cursors at appropriate locations.
iv. Press SCAN AREA to be able to SCROLL.
v. Trackball to systole. Press Measure, then LVs from measure
options. Set cursors at appropriate locations.
vi. Fractional Shortening will be automatically calculated

c. ANATOMICAL M-MODE
i. Pull up a video clip of a beating heart, press M-MODE. Use the
SCAN AREA button to toggle from positioning the cursor, to
angling the cursor, to scrolling (look at bottom right of screen).
OR…
ii. While scanning live with M-Mode, use the first dial of the mode
menus, center button (#1 above) to turn on the anatomical m-
mode. Then turn the dial to angle the cursor and trackball to
position the cursor.
Saving Still images or video clips

1. P1-P2-P3 BUTTONS
a. P1 -
i. When image is frozen, P1 stores a still image to the hard drive
and puts a thumbnail of the image on the bottom of the screen.
ii. When the image is live, P1 stores a Raw Dicom video clip (3
seconds).
iii. The thumbnail of a still will have a “1” in the corner, the
thumbnail of a video will not.
iv. These images are saved in Raw Dicom format and can be
altered later. Raw Dicom video clips have a huge file size, and
therefore are not appropriate for transmitting for telemedicine.
They will also not import properly into VetPACS. Video clips for
transfer/sending should be saved in Dicom vs. Raw Dicom
format.
v. P1 will also save an image of the worksheet screen, the patient
screen, etc.
b. P2 prints images to a peripheral thermal or paper printer.
c. The P3 Button saves images in Dicom format and sends them to a USB
drive.

2. END EXAM button


a. This takes you to a screen showing all your saved images.
b. Select PERMANENT STORE to permanently save to the hard drive.
c. Exit

Copying/Backing Up/Archiving

1. FORMATTING A CD (this step done automatically in the Data Transfer now)


a. Insert a CD-R into the CD burner
b. Press the Utility key (to right of space bar)
c. Choose CONNECTIVITY, then REMOVABLE MEDIA
d. Choose media as CD Recordable and type a name for the CD into the
LABEL field (alpha-numeric, no spaces or symbols)
e. Choose Format
f. Choose EXIT to return to imaging mode.

2. INDIVIDUAL IMAGES - To put on a CD or USB memory stick to share with


others.
a. CD must be formatted for this process (as above)
b. Bring up a still image or video loop from the thumbnails or by
scanning.
c. Use the cursor arrow to choose MENU from lower right of screen.
d. Choose Save As
e. Choose-ROM or Removable Disk from “Save in Archive” field.
f. Save as type .jpg for a still image, or .avi for a video clip.
g. Choose Save
h. Choose Eject from the function keys at the top of the keyboard, then
choose Finalize.
3. ALL IMAGES FROM A STUDY OR CASE – To put on a CD or USB stick to share
with others or keep in patient’s file.
a. Press PATIENT button and choose Data Transfer at upper left corner of
screen.
b. Select MPegVue from choices at left, and from the drop-down menu
next to TO: choose REMOVABLE CD ARCHIVE or REMOVABLE USB KEY
ARCHIVE.
c. Select (highlight) patient’s name or multiple patients’ names (hold
down the Ctrl key while selecting).
d. Choose TRANSFER (below Patient list)
e. When finished, eject the media by pressing the Eject key (at the top of
the keyboard).
f. **These images can be viewed on some PC’s depending on the
windows software level. (Usually Windows 2000 or less)

4. SINGLE OR MULTIPLE CASES – To clear cases off the hard drive, save for
future review on the Logiq P6, or backing up the hard drive to prevent loss of
information.
a. These images will be saved in DICOM format and cannot be viewed on
a PC without a DICOM reader. You can download a free Dicom Viewer
off the internet onto your PC by googleing “free dicom viewer”.
b. Follow the steps as in # 3 above, choosing EXPORT instead of
MPegVue.

Changing or creating a PRESET

1. Changing an existing preset


a. Press the Probe/Preset button, chose a Probe and an Application
b. While scanning, make any B-Mode, CF, PW, Measurement or
Annotation changes desired
c. Press the Probe/Preset button
d. Select OVERWRITE on the right side of the screen

2. Creating a NEW preset


a. Press the Probe/Preset button, choose a Probe and an Application
b. While scanning, make any B-Mode, CF, PW, Measurement or
Annotation changes desired
c. Press the Probe/Preset button
d. Select NEW on the right side of the screen
e. Type in the new preset name
f. Select which USER you want to rename
g. You can create up to 4 different presets per application

3. To save presets to a USB or CD You must format your CD or USB using


Step 1 under Copying/Backing UP/Archiving above, then do the
following:
a. Utility, System, Backup, click on User Defined Configuration in the top
left box, then chose Media. Check Backup in the top left box. Click OK
on all message boxes. It will say Finished by User Defined
Configuration and give you a time and date. Then Exit.
Adding features with activation key strings
1. Utilities, Admin, System Admin, view feature status in the list
2. Type in key string to activate a new feature, in the “Enter new options key”
box.

Assigning User defined keys


1. Utilities, Admin, Function Key
2. The User defined keys correspond to the oval backlit buttons on the right of
the console panel.
3. After assigning the keys, you can pop off the overlying plastic cover on top of
the button and place a corresponding label, then replace the plastic cover.

To see what the “F” function keys are programmed for, press Utility, Select Admin,
then the Function Key.

To eject media, press the F3 key at the top left of keypad, chose which Media and
select Finalize.
