ABSTRACTION
SELF-CONCEPT
Imagine yourself looking into a mirror. What does one see? Do you see your
ideal self or your actual self? Your ideal self is the self that you simply aspire to be. It
10
is the one that you simply hope will process characteristics kind of like that of a
mentor or another worldly figure. Your actual self, however, is the one that you just
actually see. It's the self that has characteristics that you were nurtured or, in some
cases, born to possess. The particular self and also the ideal self are two broad
categories of self-concept.
The ideal-self, on the opposite hand, is how we would like to be. it's an
idealized image that we've developed overtime, supported what we've got learned
and experienced. The ideal self could include components of what our parents have
taught us, what we admire in others, what our society promotes, and what we predict
is our greatest interest. There's no negotiation that exists between the two selves
which is complex because there numerous exchanges between the best and actual
self.
These exchanges are exemplified in social roles that are adjusted and re-
adjusted, and are derived from outcomes of social interactions from infant and to
adult development. Alignment is very important. If the way that I'm (the actual self) is
aligned with the way that I need to be (the ideal self), then I will be able to feel a way
of mental well-being or peace of mind. If the way that I'm not aligned with how I need
to be, the in congruence, or lack of alignment, will lead to mental distress or anxiety.
The extent of in congruence between the ideal self and real self, the greater the
extent of resulting distress. Personal development modules ultimate aim is bigger
self-knowledge that may cause higher alignment between these two personality
domains.
PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Personal effectiveness means making of the private resources, talents, skills
energy and time to enable you to achieve life goals. Your knowledge of yourself and
11
therefore the way you manage impacts directly on your personal effectiveness.
Being self-aware, making the foremost of your strengths, new skills and techniques ,
and behavioral flexibility are all keys to improving your personal performance.
Our individual effectiveness depends on our essential characteristics-talent
and skill accumulated within the method of private development. Talents first are
needed to be identified then developed to be used in an exceedingly selected
discipline (science, literature, sports, politics, technology livelihood education , etc.)
Experience includes knowledge and skills that we acquire within the method of
cognitive , and practical activities. Knowledge is required for setting goals defining an
action strive to attain them and risk assessment.
Skills also determine whether real actions are performed in accordance with
the plan. If the identical activity is utilized again and again within the identical
situation, then it becomes a habit that runs automatically, subsconsciously. Here are
some skills will greatly increase the efficiency of somebody who owns them:
12
when using creative tools.
7. Generating ideas It helps you achieve goals using new, original,
unconventional ideas. Idea is additionally a picture of an
object formed by an individual's mind which might be
changed before being implemented within the globe.
For generating ideas you may be readying to use some
way of mental maps, which allows you to materialize,
visualize and scrutinize all of your ideas, which
successively contribute to the emergence of recent
ideas. These are some, but the foremost important
personal effectiveness skills which make the
achievement of any goal easier and fewer costly.

The second is the Actor. This person does not, only watch the movie her life.
She actually realizes she’s the actor -and can control a big part of her life. She's
visiting actually make or break the movie — by how well she delivers her lines so,
the way she portrays her character. Actors are a cheerful bunch, realizing they’re the
13
start of the show and skill some level of control. But again and again, they require
the movie would end in an exceedingly different way — but realize that they have no
say in such things.
The third is the Scriptwriter. This person does not only watch, and he or she
does not act, but she actually creates the entire movie from her mind. She
determines what she's visiting say, what she goes to undertake to, and also the way
the movie will end. She find yourself beautiful.
Who are you among these three people?
Do I merely watch you life go by?
Or do you act out a script that you simply just feel has been handed to you?
Or do I write the script and make your life, beautiful?
Generally, the maker of the movie is God. He tells you “Make the movie
generally pleasing, which able to provide you with all that you simply need for
achievement.”
