Script World Teachers' Day

World Teachers' Day is celebrated annually on October 5th to commemorate the 1966 adoption of the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the status of teachers. This recommendation established standards for teachers' rights, responsibilities, training, employment conditions and teaching/learning environments. With the adoption of SDG 4 on education, WTD now also marks progress on achieving Education 2030 goals and addressing remaining challenges to promote the teaching profession. This year's WTD program, held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizes teachers' leadership in times of crisis and their role in reimagining the future of education.

Held annually on 5 October since 1994, World Teachers’ Day commemorates the

anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning

the Status of Teachers. This Recommendation sets benchmarks regarding the
rights and responsibilities of teachers and standards for their initial preparation
and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning
conditions.

With the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education, and the
dedicated target (SDG 4.c) recognizing teachers as key to the achievement of the
Education 2030 agenda, WTD has become the occasion to mark progress and
reflect on ways to counter the remaining challenges for the promotion of the
teaching profession. This is actually the first time that we have celebrated a
different World Teachers’ Day. We have surely missed the songs, flowers, notes of
appreciation, array of gifts, and even the simple act of gestures from our students.
Even though we are beleaguered by this mysterious virus, it doesn’t mean that we
will not celebrate this significant occasion. Amid this pandemic crisis, nothing can
stop the world to acknowledge the significant roles of teachers in the society.

Welcome to our surprise World Teachers’ Day program.

To formally begin our program, let us ask for the blessings of our Lord Almighty
through a prayer. This will be immediately followed by the singing of the
Nationalistic Song.

Now, let us listen to the message our School Principal, Mr. Ronald A. Trono.

(Thank you, sir, for your inspiring message.) Truly, teaching offers us opportunities
to focus on a number of “small things” that culminate over time to produce
students that are prepared to do the “great things” of life.

At this time, I am deeply honored to introduce to you the new members of our
faculty.
Again, let us give them a round of virtual applause. At this juncture, let us be
delighted by a special number from ______________________.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly added to the challenges faced by already
over-extended education systems throughout the world. It is no exaggeration to
say that the world is at a crossroads and, now more than ever, we must work with
teachers to protect the right to education and guide it into the unfolding landscape
brought about by the pandemic.

Thus, this year’s World Teachers’ Day theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis,
reimagining the future”. The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching
profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices
of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target
of leaving no one behind.

We have now come to the highlight of this program – Awarding of Certificate of

Recognition to teachers who have shown commitment and service to the profession
thereby affording inspiration for others and shining example of immense
leadership.
