There’s a great saying…

“If you win the morning, you win the day.”

The problem is, most people start their day reactively


by checking their phone or emails right away instead of
proactively spending time on themselves and creating a
vision for the day.

And that’s how you ruin your chances of success.

When you check your phone or social media, researchers


from the University of British Columbia found that it
programs you for instant gratification.

In a study, psychologist Walter Mischel gave a group of


kids a cookie each and two choices; eat the cookie now or
wait for a period of time and be rewarded with a second
cookie.

He discovered that those who could delay gratification (by


not eating the cookie right away) tended to become more
successful than others due to increased performance at
school and work.

So before you pick up your phone, check your emails,


or start working, go through this morning routine to set
yourself up for a successful and productive day...

#1 MAKE YOUR BED

One of the most powerful things you can do first thing in


the morning is to make your bed.

Why?

William H. McRaven, a US Navy Admiral, said it best, “If


you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to
do the big things right.”

When you make your bed, you have created your first win
of the day. And over the day, the small wins will snowball
into bigger wins.

#2 DRINK 16oz
OF WATER

When sleeping, your body slowly becomes dehydrated.

So right after you’ve made your bed, go grab some water


to fill your body with fluid.

This also helps your body flush out toxins as well as kick
your brain into the healthiest and most productive state.

Now, if you’re not a fan of drinking water first thing in the


morning, do it anyway and give yourself a reward after
(like a cup of tea, coffee, or something else you enjoy).

#3 ATTITUDE OF
GRATITUDE
All success starts with being grateful for what you have in
your life right now.

When you’re grateful for what you have, you recognize and
focus on the positive instead of the negative.

The stress… the fear… and the pressure moves out of the
way.

Now, you don’t have to be limited to the big things.

Were you able to stand on your feet and walk out of bed
this morning?

Are you able to go to your kitchen and get delicious food?

Do you have loveable family around you?

Did something great happen to you recently?

Or do you have a job or business you’re proud of?

Even small things like that can give you more gratitude
than you might think.

So the key is to always be grateful for what you have while


striving for more.

#4 QUICK, INTENSE
MOVEMENT

Right after doing the meditation, do some intense


movement for a couple of minutes.

It can be anything from jumping jacks, crunches,


stretching, power walking, or yoga.

This gets your heart rate pumping and puts you in the
“ready-to-go” mentality.

Now, this is not a replacement for your regular exercising.


It’s only a quick and powerful way to wake your body up
and get maximum energy for the day.

Note: you can move #2 up here and drink the water after
the intense movement

WRITE THE

The fifth and final step is what I call the
“Preparation Phase”.

The “do-or-die” stage.

This is the stage that could make or break your entire day.

It’s the stage that determines if you’re going to win or fail


the day.

It will give you clarity and a direction for each and every
day...
