Design Basis with Yield Pattern

Bashundhara Bitumen/Asphalt Production Plant Unit-1 (Atmospheric Distillation Unit and


Vacuum Distillation Unit), a project under Bashundhara Oil and Gas Company Ltd., was
designed considering the Venezuelan Merey Crude as the design basis with flexibility to operate
with other similar heavy Bituminous crudes.
The light ends or Naphtha cut yield for this crude is 3.74% (upto 150 oC). But it may vary from
2.52% (Canadian Heavy Blend) to 4.53% (Colombian Crude).
The Atmospheric Gas Oil/Middle Distillate yield will be approximately 8.33% to 13.6% which
will be disposed of in the Fuel Oil pool. The furnace oil/FO cut yield varies from 24.17% to
28.66% with 26.29% yield in the design crude.
Merey crude (Design Basis) has a Bitumen yield of 56.37% with a yield variation from 55.68%
to 65.43% depending on different feedstock flexibility.
