Onion oil extraction method

The present invention is a method of extracting onion oil, belonging to the field of processing agricultural
products, dedicated to the depth of the onion processing.

Onion is a worldwide vegetable Liliaceae Allium, and is known as "health food", it is not only fresh
vegetables and food flavorings, and with the advancement of technology, it's also more disease
prevention function increasingly valued by the people. In particular extracted from onions onion oil Due to
its versatility, it has become in short supply of industrial raw materials on the international market.

① raw material medicines. Onion oil hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, anti-asthmatic, anti-cancer,


sterilization and other functions. United States, Japan, Switzerland, France, place it on as lowering blood
pressure, anti-AIDS drugs main raw material, the use of already being mass-produced oil onion
hypoglycemic capsules, sterilization cloth.

② onion oil can be used as seasoning. With the fast food, the rise of convenience foods, onion oil as the
main pollution-free food additives, the rapid increase in the demand.

③ onion oil useful as cosmetic additives. Namely the use of antibacterial action onion oil
microencapsulated, having the cosmetic prevention and treatment of acne, acne and other skin features.

Onion oil is extracted using the current atmospheric steam distillation and extraction agent with a juice
extraction solvent. Atmospheric steam distillation method, comprising the onion yellow onion pulverized
into slurry, add water, soaking, atmospheric steam distillation, i.e., at 100 deg.] C, under atmospheric
distillation of about of 101 kPa, collecting distillate extraction, distillation onion oil. Due to the high

1. Extraction method of onion oil, comprising: (1) Materials: Measurement yellow onion; (2) soaking: The
pulverized into onion yellow onion pulp, by weight 1:1 water was added at 35 ~ 50 ℃ closed condition , for
1.5 to 2 hours;

(3) steam distillation under reduced pressure: The slurry after the onion is placed in the 55 ~ 60 ℃, 3 ~ 12
as a distillation under a vacuum, the distillate collected: (4) Extraction: The above distillate its volume 20
to 50% by adding an organic solvent extraction of distillate was collected organic phase; (5) solvent
recovery: the organic phases collected above by 1 to 2% by weight added to the food after with a
dehydrating agent dehydration distillation to recover the organic solvent to obtain onion oil.

Extraction methods described above onion oil, the raw material of choice is 9866 (see 2000 "Cheung
vegetables" 11 31 ~ 32), Toyotama Early or OP yellow yellow onion varieties, the extraction procedure
used in the organic solvent is dichloro methane, chloroform, ethyl acetate or diethyl ether, under reduced
pressure steam distillation procedures used in the food with a dehydrating agent is anhydrous Na2SO4,
CaCl2 or anhydrous anhydrous MgSO4.
Extracted using a process of the invention as a pale yellow onion oil, clear liquid having the flavor of fresh
onions; purity of 99% or more (fine onion oil); yield was 3.2 ~ 3.8 %‰ (onion oil w / onion fresh weight)
wherein the content of methyl sulfide is 33 to 42% (by weight of onion oil), propyl sulfide content of 21 to
40% (by weight of onion oil), propylene sulfide content of 31 to 42%, thiosulfinates content of 0.32 to
0.40% (by weight of onion oil), the specific composition shown in Table 1.

The present process as compared with the prior method has created point: ① screened onion oil-rich
species, different contents in different varieties of onion oil, the test proved 9866, Toyotama Early, OP
yellow onion oil content than other varieties .

② using a suitable soaking conditions, onions contain more enzymes and tryptophan, onions after
crushing, tryptophan tryptophanase contacting reaction thiosulfinates, S- A cysteine sulfoxide and methyl
propyl sulfide and other active substances. Process uses the highest enzymatic soaking tryptophan
reactive conditions, to maximize onion tryptophan promote decomposition of the active substance onion
oil.

③ screened suitable steam distillation under reduced pressure condition, compared with the conventional
atmospheric steam distillation, the pressure was reduced to 3 ~ 12kpa extracted from normal (of 101
kPa), the boiling point of distillation to 29 to 58 from 100 ℃ ℃, reducing damage labile active substance at
a high temperature.

④ using a suitable organic solvent extraction, and the test proved their polarity similar to onion oil, onion
oil solubility of large, can be adequately extracted; and these low-boiling organic solvents, the active
material easily damaged during recovery.

The present invention provides a process to solve the yield of onion oil, the active substance content and
production operability contradiction with the prior art as compared with the following advantages: ①
increase the yield of onion oil, since the selection of enriched onions oil varieties; using steam distillation
under reduced pressure, to reduce the damage of the active material, completely extracted; selected
onion oil suitable polar extraction solvent like, can be sufficiently extracted. Yield onion oil of the invention
increased by 36% compared the conventional process, so that the onion oil yield increased from 2.2 ~ 2.8
‰ to 3.2 ~ 3.8 %‰, onion oil production increased efficiency.

② increase the content of active substance onion oil, using a suitable soaking conditions, tryptophan

③ industrial production easy to operate, compared with supercritical CO2 extraction wears, conventional
equipment factory production equipment for the large-scale production, low investment, easy to expand
production scale. The supercritical CO2 extraction equipment required for complex, high demand
(resistance to ultra-high pressure), a large investment, expand production scale is difficult.

sulfide content of 21% (onion oil weight ratio), propenyl sulfide content of 36%, content of thiosulfinates
0.41% (onion oil weight ratio), the specific composition shown in Table 2.

Example 2: 1) Early Toyotama pulverized onion 1000g, 1000g water was added, the homogenate.

2) in a sealed vessel, 40 ℃ 1.5-2 hours fermentation.

Onion homogenate 3) after fermentation, to 3kPa pressure using a vacuum pump, the conditions of 55 ~
60 ℃ water steam distillation, collecting distillate.

4) distilling the product was extracted with 120ml methylene chloride, the organic phase was collected,
added 3 ~ 5g anhydrous Na2S04, the organic solvent is recovered by distillation, to give fine onion oil,
yield 3.2 ‰, a clear, pale yellow liquid. Nanjing Agricultural University College of Horticulture by HPLC
analysis, onion oil methyl sulfide content of 33% (weight ratio onion oil), propyl sulfide content of 38%
(onion oil weight ratio), propenyl sulfide content 35%, thiosulfinates content of 0.43% (onion oil weight
ratio), the specific composition shown in Table 3.

Extraction of the above embodiments of the onion oil, yellow onion varieties selected in place of OP
yellow or Toyotama Early 9866, with an organic solvent chloroform instead of dichloromethane, ethyl
acetate or diethyl ether, dried over anhydrous food with a dehydrating agent anhydrous MgSO4 or CaCl2
place over anhydrous Na2SO4 onion extract can achieve the same effect of the oil, which is of ordinary
skill in the art can do. While the present process is also suitable for extracting extraction and other
varieties of onion oil, onion oil, garlic, which is of ordinary skill in the art can do.
