What Is It
A pulley is a wheel that rotates freely, a rope is wound around the grove of the
wheel. It can help you lift things. A Pulley may be fixed or movable. A fixed pulley changes
the direction of force because the force moves downward while the load moves upward. The
movable pulley is one that is attached to a load and moves as the load moves. Both the force
and load move upward. A pulley is a wheel that carries a flexible rope, cord, cable, chain, or
belt on its rim. Pulleys are used singly or in combination to transmit energy and motion. It is a
wheel that is used with a cord or rope. When you pull it downward, the other end lifts upward.
All over the country Philippine flags are raised into the air every morning and
lowered later in the afternoon. A simple machine called a pulley helps a person raise and
lower the flag. A pulley is a wheel with a groove in it, and a rope in the groove. The wheel
can be any size, and the length of the rope can vary as well. The wheel can also be called a
drum or a sheave.
Pulleys are simple machines that make daily life so easy. As the names suggest,
pulleys are used to pull and lift heavy loads. These are simple machines that make our life
very easy, and unknowingly, we use them so many time on most days.
